I met Midge Ure at the end of May 2023... and I walked away thinking I had met one of the nicest people I had ever met... such a giving man with time to spare.

I agree you totally! For many years I've been a fan of him and Ultravox. I've read his autobiography IF I WAS... and now I love his music more and more.

Midge Ure is talented yet humble, and strong. I respect him.

Unfortunately always ignored when it comes to great singers.

What a handsome and wonderful man. And what a phantastic mother to accept his dream.

Midge has always worn his fame lightly and really goes out of his way for his fans. After many decades I finally get to see him live in Australia next year!!

@Graeme Hill Good for you! I’m a huge fan as well; you are so fortunate! I wonder if he’ll come to California, where I am...(BTW, hope you’re not too affected by the fires...we also have that in common. We deal with this every year. Our terrain and weather are so similar).

Currently falling down an Ultravox and Midge Ure rabbit hole and so glad this little snippet popped up. Midge, your mum sounds like an amazing woman. You followed your heart and gave us your soul, endless thanks.

Midge you are still as cool now as when I was a young man dancing to and singing along with your music. I'm 55 now and I've been a huge fan for a long time. Cheers from Ottawa, Canada.

🌿 This is one of the most touching & moving music autobiographies I've watched, even if a tiny one! I always liked Ultravox' music but never happened to buy an album. Over the past 6~months I've discovered & have really gotten into Midge's solo music & so, of course, began watching interviews with him. Interviews with Midge Ure always leave me feeling so uplifted! This video is a perfect example! My takeaway from it is that whatever path life gives you, there's magic & beauty in that path even if it doesn't all play out exactly the way you were planning. Midge seems like such an incredibly nice, kind, & wise person! ✨🌿✨

This movie is also for me so touching and moving that I got my eyes wet with tears! I've read his autobiography IF I WAS... . I'm a Japanese and not very good at English so it took 3 months, but I got more and more into his music, Ultravox and solo works. What a humble, wise, kind, and strong person he is!

When I first heard this guy in Ultravox, I was a major head-banger and 'preppy' music was not allowed in the friend groups.. I had to listen to Vienna under cover... So glad I did as I have such great memories of Ultravox during the 80's...

What a lovely, humble and talented guy. I knew "Slik", whe I was 10. I knew R.K. when I was 12. And I bought "Vienna", when I was 14. Now I am 59. May Midge live long and prosper.

If anybody who was ever destined to be famous it was certainly Midge Ure. Not many people get that many 'bites of the apple' and it seemed to be so effortless for him. Great talent and certainly had 'what it takes'

Have seen Midge in big venues, small venues, one man shows .....always the nice humble scots gentleman he will always be xx

I had the privilege of supporting Midge Ure with SLIK on a couple of shows in the mid-seventies, and he was on the Main Stage for the REWIND festivals last year or two when I was playing support on a smaller stage, so great to see him again almost 50 years later. Midge Ure remains one of the nicest people ever to grace show business, and has always been a gentleman in a world that produces fewer than it should. Stay happy, Midge... it's infectious.

What I've seen in this interview is a very intelligent man that brings music to a higher level. His speach includes a certain amount of poetry that enriches his music. The mysterical wave in all his songs makes me an ardent listener to his art.

I have always loved Midge Ure and do remember his single with Slik - Forever and Ever, was one of the very first singles I bought in my life and, believe me, it was played to death. Midge is much more of a musical genius than he has ever been given credit for, and is one of a select few British musicians and singers who has also written for other people, who have had big hits with his compositions. Midge is a real legend. Thank you for all your wonderful work and compositions, Midge from a very grateful life long fan.

Great guy, great musician, never fully gets the kudos that he deserves in the big wide world of music. I must admit i prefer his solo stuff and saw him live in 2013 in my hometown of southampton. It was just him and a guy in the background on a drum machine. He played a great variety of tunes. Top man is midge.

I saw the Midge at the end of November. It is still in great form.

I got to see him live playing in Eastkilbride village theatre about 14yrs ago and luckily got him to autograph an album. x

I have two favorite bands of all time Ultravox is one of them - I will never forget seeing them live when I was 19. The Voice live was frigging incredible. I bought every one of their albums and listened to them all the time. The only other band I felt that way about was Linkin Park RIP

Ha! I was going to leave the video after my initial post, but he is so likeable and the interview was so well done I ended up watching the whole thing. Thanks, Midge, for ALL of your music.

I wish he had talked more about his singing. He was once asked who the real Midge Ure was and he said, "I'm the cute on behind the piano." He has that iconic voice of a generation. The only other one I can think of from that era who could really sing like that was Adrian Belew (King Crimson).

Vienna made me aware of music as a child, very ethereal sound coming from the radio in the night

Knew Midge back in the 'Salvation' days (pre Slik)... a nicer guy you couldn't meet. You could sense even back then he would go places.

When you listen to the concerts he is still giving, you hear note for note this Great Singer really looooves what he's doing. I wish he would have said something about his odd stint in Thin Lizzy, which was probably his strangest career move, but apparantly he wasn't molested by hardrock fans, even if he wore yellow and pink outfits. Apparantly, he really could play the rock songs very well. Also, the interview certainly could have included a word or two or three or four about the totally underrated fantastic come back CD of Ultravox called Brilliant.... because it really IS brilliant. It is really "old school" Ultravox again, without sounding "dated". So sad not larger audiences picked it up.... But who knows, maybe in 7 years an "exclusive" car producer or jewel maker will pick up Brilliant, and the song will become Big in Bulgaria, and then grow and grow and invade the rest of the planet....

Midge Ure got a lot of crap for becoming Ultravox's singer, but it's totally undue because John Foxx left (because he's a control freak)...he wasn't kicked out. It's a silly argument for some to make (including Gary Numan). Woulda also been intersting to hear him mention the fascination w/ his THE MAN WHO SOLD THE WORLD cover after being featured in the video game METAL GEAR SOLID V

You just want to be his friend. What a great guy! And what a great career. Give it laldy!
