I'm a parent of 5+ year old daughter. Before we got her admit to school (during covid times). She used to learn many things on her own, by watching videos, by books. And she used to felt excited to learn new things like colors name, numbers blocks etc. She was way ahead of other kids of her age. But now that excitement has gone. Now she only look forward for Sunday. So that she can sleep. And I felt that this is sad reality of modern times.

I had taken up Science in 11th Std just to be able to continue in the same school i was in since 1st Std. Science was not at all my cup of tea.I tried hard to grasp the subjects, my teachers knew i was struggling but they couldn't care less. I flunked 11th, cleared 11th, flunked 12th and barely managed to pass in second attempt. My own classmates and teachers (barring a few good ones), labelled me as 'Failure', even addressing me as such publically. Social pariah bana diya tha. I changed stream in college, scored well, appeared in Govt exam, cleared it, and have a well paying job now. Point is, The calibre of a teacher lies not in taking a 95/ 100 marks wala student to 99/100; but in taking a 14/100 marks wala student to 50/100. The humiliation and ill treatment becomes a lifelong memory.

Wearing lipstick and good sarees does not mean that a woman cannot be a good teacher. Should she come in a night suit? These are the terrible sexist ideas of our society that need to be gotten rid of. If a school pays women well and gives them time to do their work they will do it properly. Otherwise they won’t. It has nothing to do with what they wear and how they travel.

Communications Trainer here. I did BCA and went on training graduates for a living. Joined a school as an English Trainer and quoted my own salary with conditions. Got approved. Most teachers (women) earned 20% of what I earned and they were miserable with paperwork and not upskilling themselves. I handled Grade I - X for 3 years and it was the best time ever. I earned well, took weekoffs, and emergency leaves without repercussions. Point is, most teachers join for the security of a job and in hopes of earning a buck. We tried to conduct free weekend training program to hone their english and computer literacy but their unwillingness to upkill kept them in their useless position. Yes. Most teachers get into unproductive loose talks in staffroom, complaining constantly and ignorance. They have no ambition, care and love for better representing themselves for a better paycheck. Never become a teacher. Go market yourself as an extra-curricular trainer and demand greater pays. I am the living example.

You are right...I have seen this with many teachers and have to say female teachers cuz they are the one in large numbers. What bothers me that with their half of the knowledge students are not getting answers for their curious questions Not only this sometimes they have been told wrong things as these teachers themselves are not aware about the topic... serious issue Though I am a female; private tutor and I derive complete satisfaction when I see a change in my students on the issues wherein these so called school teachers have given up and asked have been asked that child to repeat the year

I'm a teacher in govt department. Now govt departments have adopted the private style of schooling. Gone are the days in govt schools when teachers used to do their personal stuff in the school. Now the department keeps them occupied anyhow. The trend since the last 15 years has been changed completely - 1. In 2000's when we were schooling, we never dared to ask our teachers' personal contact number. The teacher-parent contact was restricted to school only but now parents call us even at odd hours. 2. every week there is some useless activity that distracts students from their studies. 3. N number of sports or cultural events that too without any occasion. 4. We are made to stay in school for extra 40-50 mins everyday after school hours, that too without any reason or work. The principal never gives register for departure signature on time. 4. A lot of duties in different committees which eat our time of teaching. Chah kar bhi nahi pdha sakte because principal is calling to the office frequently for some extra work. 5. Frequent teacher trainings and seminars which are of no use because every teacher has his own way of teaching. In short, there is everything happening in schools now a days except teaching and studying. Be it govt or pvt department.😢

So true. "Holistic personality development" is the only thing that will make a school survive. Becoz schools can't compete with rigorous academic teaching that is being done in coaching centres and tuitions. In order to survive the school has to show unnecessary mirch masala other than teaching. I think parents should get their students admitted to NIOS and let the child study in online so that the time as well as money spect on CCA activities is saved. This way students can actually focus on what matters.

Dear sir, I could not agree more. I am 25 now, from a small town. I grew among female teachers with conditions as described in your video. They used to come to school to socialize instead to teach. They did not have time to see or grow any potential/ hidden potential in the students. exactly in class 2, my teacher changed 4x and the main incharge was a bully and no connection with the kids. My marks falled from 94% to 85% in single class. Moving ahead one teacher without any qualification was asking us to rote the subjects without any understanding. I was failed by the education system at a very tender age of ~8. It took me years to realize how to study, and that too with the help of my newly wed Chachi in the home and within 4 months, my grade started to improve. I love to learn today. I try to spend at least 2 hours daily on studies. She and a couple more teachers I can recall who changed my life. This poor system of the schools is seriously going to behead the creativity of the kids.

Red day, blue day, fruit day, vegetable day, shopping day, zoo visit,

They were compelled to attend a religious function, far away from their residence, organized by the school director, and make a donation on top of that. One incentive for female teachers is that they get a sense of power and some authority in the classroom.

@@kbshrivastav8539 As per me, life and studies are not about getting into fancy university placements or others where most of the people are running for nowadays, just judge the skills of your child as a parent that a school can't do, focus on, and enhance, and help polish their skills so that they can excel and gain name, fame, and money in the specific fields that your child excels in. I will not run for fancy placements for my child, it will be all ok if he goes to a simple university, but excels in what he loves in his life. That's it. For me studies are just a means and will run in parallel to what he loves, no studies pressure will be there from our end as parents. I am a private tutor in Gurgaon giving tuitions to children whose parents are from elite class .I had observed exact things what u said . While giving private one on one tuitions I put so much of efforts because schools are not bothered if the child (who is above average) has grasped any knowledge they only want to finish the targeted syllabus . Parents are paying extra money in order to get actual knowledge As u said parents must ask questions to the school...in such scenario schools actually kind of boycott pupils and make their parent's and students' life hell, it's not that easy. Moreover these so called posh newly established schools are nothing but 5 Star education hubs Same is the situation with hospitals. It all is going to collapse slowly but these students who deserve the right for good quality education and parents also will be paying a huge price as by end of the day that child has gained nothing deep level knowledge

And I said you taken degree in education you guys know better how to teach , we parents can monitor only. This is reality of these private schools. And this is the failure of govt.

I realised one thing that the three month training that i did after Btech was more imp than my 22 yrs of education. Indian school education is kachra. Teachers one advice dont give bullshit homework of writing and coppying and memorising to students. These school debates and public speeches are all bullshit doesnt take you anywhere in life. When you do a conversation or dialouge with a native english speaker you will run out words. Our schools are just manufacturing robots that is capable of doing tasks assigned to it. At job you need to think out of box, and perform quick execution . Thank god i never wasted time on school homeworks.

Very less parents realise the fact that teacher is at the centre of the educational institut. While taking admission they observe everything in a school but never meet the teachers. Parents even don't inquire about the qualifications of the teachers. We all have to accept the fact that physical infrastructure and excessive extra curricular activities are not the essence of a good school. A proper teacher can nourish your child in a better way. Don't go by the fees of the schools. What ever glitter is not always the gold!

Kabhi bhi nikal diya jaata hai, jo sign karwate hain utna nahi milta paisa, Extra curriculum activity ka extra paisa nahi milta jabki baccho se per head 1000 rupees lete hain, Exams ya test se pehle shaam tak rok lete hain ghar nahi jaane dete, Aur kuch kuch schools jaan bujh kar teachers ko force krte hain jeans ya tight fit kapde pehne ke liye taaki wo school ko log bada school samjhe.

But unfortunately my child has experienced such teachers that u mentioned n have got answers like hume itne hi paise milte hai toh aur kitna paghaye then I had to change the school the deposit was not returned at all. So this is definitely a business. My mother as a teacher when she expired her students old n new all came there was no space ppl were standing out n even on roads. When I came out n looked I cried n said ma this is what u earned. Right from ACP to collectors to business men all her students were there. Today children don't even remember the name.

Agree. Slowly schools turn kids into boxes of their choice, who do not have sense of inclination. Because they become choiceless moving creatures. The difficult part is, the school is eating up parents time as well kids personal activity time. Long hours, Activity/Event based curriculum is spoiling kids interest in studies. They have started attaching marks to all the activities they want kids to participate for. 2 months of annual day practice lacking study focus is kept. If the child doesn't participate it will be attendance or study loss for all those days, because they have decided 2 months it will be half day annual day practice. Boycotting their unnecessary events is made difficult. They ensure that parents feels trapped. Parents need to question them together. There isn't any other way, that we demand they change their ways.

I was teacher too for 10 years nd I left after rude behaviour of management nd principal as during covid I was on maternity leave and had one family member very serious and still they forced me to take online classes so I left Teachers are not treated the way they should be. Also they get too much work. They have 60 or more kids in a class and teachers have to cater everyone's need in 30 mins. Book checking, result, register work, every month paper setting, correction, register work, fees checking, every now and then activities, competition, and lengthy curriculum. Plus training. All this. After school also teacher gives extra time to prepare lesson, correction of paper and other work. They made to wait in school after working hours to prepare child for annual day, sports day and all other special occasions. nd salary? we all know how much they are being paid. So don't say that ladies teachers are not serious, coz I know gents also who works on 2 to 10k.

The elephant in the room, that often is overlooked is the reservation system. Minority run schools do not have the burden of 25% free reservation for SC/ST/OBC candidates. Those extra seat reserved in non minority schools , get pushed over on the general category students. This keeps the fees high. Govt reimburses pittance for the reserved seats , This means the schools takes it as pure loss in their balance sheet. The missionary schools are cost effective as they do not have these overheads. In addition to this you cant even rent out premises for commercial activity to recover costs. This is purely state sponsored apartheid of general category hindus.
