I really loved this explanation of the Midcentury Modern Era. I've frequently heard advice on how to design based on the popular elements of the time, but this was the first video that has really deep-dived into WHY the style was popular, and I appreciated your insight on how to utilize that knowledge for modern trends. Thank you so much for your insight! I will definitely check out the other videos on your channel :)

Thank you! I think context is the key to understanding any art style. Art always reflects the time in which it was created. I think you will also enjoy my videos Understanding Abstraction and Understanding Surrealism - others as well, of course. I really appreciate hearing from you.

Well done, Susan! Nancy and I enjoyed the 10-minute video on Mid-Century Art and Design - well-produced, narrated and extremely informative. It was fascinating to see the décor styles from the 1920s and how they have remained popular in today’s homes. The mid-century art and design incorporates those sleek lines, organic shapes, and a mix of materials, creating a timeless aesthetic that continues to resonate with people today!

Thank you so much. I really like this style, and after I made the video I redesigned my living room in Mid-century style, complete with Eames chair which I had stashed upstairs, unused, in my office. Everything old is new again!

Interesting stuff. I suppose the Art Deco movement occurred too early to be included in the video.

Art Deco was concurrent with the earlier styles of Mid-century Modern such as those from the 1920s Bauhaus. However, the style is different, although in many instances compatible with Mid-Century Modern. I appreciate hearing from you. I will be doing a program on Art Deco one of these days! Thank you for your interest.
