Just loved how Microsoft just gave videos about the new laptop and the surface pro without actually putting the event first
Love to hear more before diving into it.

@@Minigrub YOU got that wrong. Been around a lot longer than you. Recently every other announcement is •"Yada yada AI this." •"Yada yada AI that." •"Yada yada AI watchamacallit." Reminds of the 1960s era jokes about IBM Salesmen who would spend hours telling prospective customers about how good & wonderful some new IBM machine will be for their business, but the miraculous machine's performance, in real life, left the customer asking, "Is that all there is?" AI will be much more interesting when _meaningful,_ _useful,_ actual deployment makes people's everyday lives more productive. The proof of AI will be in _productive_ _results,_ not Internet ballyhoo.

Is what some people in the comment section are saying.
The fact that the AI built in is taking screenshots of your desktop every time you click on something is a big no from me, Windows pushing me to learn Linux or switch to Mac. Huge invasion of privacy, and no I don’t trust them when they say “it’s local on the computer” it’s not like Microsoft hasn’t lied in the past.

There are over 1.5 billion people using Microsoft. There are over 2 billion apple users. There are over 3 billion people using android devices There will be some overlap in users All will be using Ai. Simply learning Linux (estimated at 67 million users globally) will not be enough to escape this technology. Linux isn't a tech company working to make a seamless experience, it's a regression to back to square one that puts most preferences on the shoulders of its users. If you feel you have that kind of motivation then take the leap. Or think about yourself and then those billions of people on one of these modern devices and weigh your own importance against an ocean of others. 3rd option throw all your tech away, because digital privacy has been gone for over a decade now.

So will older laptops now running on Windows 11 also benefit from this Copilot+ PC update?

I believe your device needs to have a dedicated NPU which only some high end Intel's do.
@fort6564

they wont. To get copilot+ you need to have a laptop that has 40+ TOPS of perfomance, which only the snapdragon chips have (at the moment)
I can't understand a word your saying. So is it junk or is it okay ?
Wait a minute.... switching from x86 to arm- doesn't that mean that 90% of video games on steam will not work for you anymore? Not to mention the new "recall" feature that literally takes screenshots of everything you do. Ai seems lovely 😐😐
so i have 2 computers i have copilot on my laptop and i have 2023 game pc my laptop 2022 acer yes my game pc would install windows 11 but i have to dig in to the BISO turn on secure boot state
No. Not enough simple explanation/. $1200 USD would equate to over $2,000 AUD by the time it hits Aussie shores. I think I will buy a Samsung Galaxy S7 or S8 atm on eBay.
It's just an ultrabook with an NPU
The animation of cutting off the thick bezel of the surface laptop looks so cringe now.
Amazing at making my pc a massive security risk. If intrusive ai on windows is their goal. Then linux will be my new operating aystem when 10 is no longer supported.

Im just kinda excited to see where this all goes in a decades time honestly. People can huff and puff about the nonstop Ai talk all they want, its here so might as well ride this crashing zeppelin to the ground. We'll likely see a surge in linux users, followed by a large sum of them returning to the familiar in no time (after they realize they arent computer programmers or just want straight forward compatibility with existing technologies).
does anyone care about the hardware fancy chip names? no one cares..thats hardware..tell us what the software does.
