What a lot of people don't realise is that I was the lead designer on this app. I literally designed the first prototype. The final thing I worked on was the export functionality shown at the end of this video. It isn't currently being worked on by by a development team, so I'm the last person to have touched it. Miss working on this app a lot. We had some really big ideas for it that never got to see the light of day. It took 3 years to build everything you see here.

Perhaps you could do a short video on it some day? I couldn't have imagined that I've been watching the designer behind this abandoned gem of an app all this time. You did such an amazing job on it! I don't think anything remotely this user-friendly exists in the 3D manipulation space (outside of VR painting) to this day.

One of the most underrated 3d softwares

Amazing! I been using Paint since Elementary School in the 90s and now seeing how you use Paint 3D. Makes me want to just back in and recreate my 2D art into 3D!

I agree, really great program.

As many others have commented, you have the ability to explain complex topics so that they can be understood by beginners (like me!). I would love to see a 'how to' on using the pen to draw in Word 2019. I've kind of bumbled along with it but I'm sure I don't have the full picture. Thanks!

A little tip: Don't add shadows or reflections on your 3d object when u use morph transition. Otherwise your object won't rotate, instead it will fading out.

Who knew Paint 3D was actually useful! 😋😋😋

I just found the app on my work laptop and painted a work of simple art, i started with writing a something with the spray can, then i added a caligraphy squiggle diagonally across the whole canvas, and then i used the oil brush to draw and enzo and i noticed that the act of doing so gave the previous things a 3d appearence, as if peering through imperfect glass with something drawn on it. So i then made a red blob and used water colors and an eraser to form it into a drop of blood. Its pretty cool software. I like, gg

Kevin - any way that you know of to embed a 3D object in the body of an Outlook email where the recipient can manipulate the view of the object (rotate it on its various axes)? I've tried but haven't found a way. Thanks.

Hi Kevin, great stuff as usual. Thanks. Have a challenge with creating an mp4 from the 3d object (e.g. turntable). I want the object to have a transparent / alpha channel background, so that you can place the clip on top of another video clip. (e.g. with a video editor). While it says you can turn off the canvas, that grey background, with the 'floor' shading, always is in the background on the mp4. I haven't found a way to have the paint 3d object when saved as an mp4 be truly with no/ alpha channel background. You can use paint 3d to remove background on a 2d picture, very well, but doesn't seem possible with a 3d object. Any help appreciated.

I know this answer comes a bit late, but in case others stumble over it as well. Unfortunately, that is where the limitations lay in Paint 3D, however you could use PowerPoint to make a movie. Basically, create a presentation and use the effects Kevin showed above, then use File -> export to move in PowerPoint. It respects the timing on the slides (Transition time field). Kevin has videos on making movies and animated GIFs of PowerPoint presentations on his channel.

Hi Kevin! Thanks for the video. I had this paint 3D, used it a lot, and I have a quick suggestion. You CAN click back on text. All you have to do is select the 3D text right by it. Anyway, thank you for showing me how to make a real 3D object!

I believe you can re-select 3D text and edit the color and position, but I haven't found a way to edit the text again. Let me know if I'm missing something.
