Ғылым және технология

this is an alternative way for beginners in electronics who don't own a hot air station and can't afford an authorized service's repair (first trial only on a useless device)

    Note to beginners: After using your Dremel and cutting wheel make sure that you use enough thermite to melt your solder back into the board, and to test it, try to power it on and dunk it slowly in some warm tap water.

    A quicker method is to remove is to use a 1300w SDS hammer drill!! To replace just place a small thermonuclear charge on top of the port.

    every one pretty much agrees that this guy made a funny video, or he's just....a Tee Dee Dee. if you don't have a heat gun, get a metal funnel like object, put it at the business end of a hair dryer, the funnel will Ensure you don't burn the board, by concentrateing the hot air to one all area. ty

    A hypodermic needle?! Everyone, please do NOT try to leverage components (or bend in general) a hypodermic needle! They are (duh) hollow inside, are prone to breaking, and can enter your body fairly easily. Having a glass eye is not worth not finding a pocketknife or sturdy metal piece.

    why do you guys do this crap , you dont even need a heat gun, all you need to do is put the soldering iron on the pin behind the usb port, to each pin to melt the solder and it will come loose quite easy, i do this to transistors and that's the best way to do it.

  • @Penfold8
    @Penfold86 жыл бұрын

    You would have been better off gently cutting the anchor leads with some flush cuts and then desoldering the pins connections. This would allow you to take out the component and then you can remove the four anchor points separately. Better to sacrifice the faulty component rather than the board. I would also recommend that you use a smaller iron tip for this kind of an application. A soft bristled brush or toothbrush would have been more handy that that wad of cotton too.

    MGrider If you mean the big pins at the four corners that are part of the usb case (chassis) , they are all connected to the ground. One less would meen less solid usb, but wouldn't cause electrical problem.

    what size nail are you using in your iron.? get yourself a nice small soldering tip and a strong iron at least 60wat variable. I use a gas one. get yourself a spring loaded solder sucker. because of the socket surrounded all the heat is disipated so your iron never warms up. use a hot iron and suck away the solder as soon as it starts to melt. whipe your soldering tip clean on a damp sponge now and then for nice connections on joints. and always use flux where possible. whole job should take you no more than 5mins. I konw your trying to point out that you can remove the case with a dremmel wheel. But a sharp pair of side cutters will do the same job. With less risk to the board. better to do it right first time. than have to do it again later. tidy safe and professional.

    I do not agree with using a cutting wheel to remove the usb port. A cutting wheel is designed for cutting metal parts, such as the rusty bolts on a car exhaust. You could really destroy your circuit board with a cutting wheel! I have a Lenovo X220 tablet I bought on Ebay. It arrived with 2 bad usb ports! They both have bent pins. I am going to try removing the ports with solder wick and a soldering iron.

    Either a good soldering iron and Chemtronics Solder Wick or hot air (as long as you know how to work either). Lead free solder requires more heat and can make them hard to remove with some irons....add regular solder then desolder with wick and repeat. It mixes and lowers the melting point. IF you do want to try it on bad boards like he says there should be no shortage if people follow this joker's lead. He gets an F for Effin idiotic.

    supermaniv1 a cheap one like this is good because it has a high power switch. You need a lot of heat for the 4 external chasis pins. panda-bg.com/en/product/Soldering-Gun-88-9012-ZD-90-25-130W-CE-/321106/. But remind you need a of practice in soldering if you are a beginner.
