Micro Fishing for a NEW PET!!!

Max and I hit up the local lake for another micro fishing adventure...this time, to try and catch a new pet fish! We headed to the store and bought a new fish tank to house the new "pets" first, then went to the lake armed with tiny rods and reels and night crawlers for bait.
THANK YOU for watching! Please SUBSCRIBE and be sure to COMMENT below to choose the name for our new pet!!!

    Hey man I know that learning about keeping fish is best by actually keeping them, and I don't want to go off on you about how the tank is, but doing research would have helped a lot in this setup. One, you need to let everything settle, like the sand, etc. Two, you would probably want a bigger filter for that kind of fish, and you need to let the tank cycle (which is letting everything settle, and adding bacteria to the tank, you can look it up online for the right stuff to put it in and the methods people use, and it will take a week for a 10g, maybe longer for bigger. Three, you need a wayyy bigger tank, like a 55g, preferably a 120g. Four, logs, driftwood, and caves are really good for these kinds of fish because its' like the lake they actually live in. Hopefully the fish will do ok. Just letting you know what I think you needed to do and I don't want to complain about you not knowing because it does help going through problems to learn about keeping fish. Best of luck in keeping the fish and fishing! - Jake

    For real. My son has a 20 gallon tank and it's just for three goldfish and has plenty of caves and logs to hide in with a more heavy-duty aerator and filter. I was worried if even that was enough space for them to be comfortable but seeing the fish they got being put into such a small tank kinda' gave me a wtf moment. I figured they'd keep the smaller ones for such a tank but was surprised when they went with the bigger fish.

Even had a baby crappie in it at one point. Would definitely think about getting a 50+ gallon tank and doing something like that in the future. Bet your son would have a blast having that in the house. But it does depend if it's legal in your state.

    The aquarium you bought is about 3x too small for that fish. He WILL die if he doesn't have a bigger tank. Also, you need a quarantine tank to clear him of disease from the lake, a cooler or heater to regulate temperature (I don't know a lot about sunfish), a filter with proper media, proper hides in the tank for the fish (Or they may kill eachother) Also, wild caught fish most likely will not eat regular store bought fishfood, so you need to make sure they get proper nutrition. Also, wait until the aquarium is clear and has been cycling with proper water levels for at LEAST 24 hours before you add your fish. I am also not an expert, but I have done my research because I love fish. I also have had and have several pet fish. Just giving you some basic guidelines so this fish can survive.

    Tank is way to small

  • @andystokes8702
    @andystokes87026 жыл бұрын

    Where to start? Firstly your tank should have been set up weeks before you even thought of putting fish in it. The filter is there not to 'strain' the water but to biologically clean it by removing ammonia, nitrite and nitrate from the water. the process by which that happens is that bacteria colonise the filter media, not something that happens overnight or in your case within 30 seconds. Without this cycling you might just as well try to keep the fish in a bucket, the filter is doing nothing apart from burning electricity. You really need to be doing some research, suggest you digest and understand the nitrogen cycle, easily found on any of the fish keeping websites on the internet. Once the tank is cycled it is able to support fish however a 10 gallon tank is tiny for the size of the fish you have put in it. It might just do for a few guppies or tetras but is nowhere near big enough for the fish you have put in it. Secondly, you may have noticed that fish are slippery, slimy even. That is because they are covered with a slime coat which is their protection against bacteria and parasites. You should never, ever touch a fish with dry hands as you have done, that is the quickest way to remove the slime coat which will increase their risk of subsequent infection. Thirdly, if you are willing to allow your son to return an unwanted fish to the lake by throwing it as hard and as far as he can then perhaps he is not yet ready to keep fish at all. A total lack of respect for those who might be in his care does not bode well. Apart from these relatively minor points everything was perfect - Not. My suggestion for a name for your fish is 'Doomed To A Horrible Death'.

    It will be a miracle if that fish stays alive in that small tank so it should be called Lucky. But wait about a month because thats how long the nitrogen cycle takes. Before that his name should be screwed. Don't mean to be mean but I love u r stuff. U should have kept the tiny fish. So u had time to upgrade the tank to at least a 55gallon for one of those adult fish. Plus u should have cycled ur aquarium first. U are a KZreadr u could have just watched a fish keeping 101 video.

    First video I watch from your channel. First off. A 10 gallon is barely good enough for neon tetras. Its equalivent as lutting you in a room you can only stand in 2nd. All sand must be flushed Before putting into a tank. Maybe next time some proper research on how to maintain a fish would work better. Would have been better to put the small ones better than one large one.

    I love you content think you're great. Your heart is in your content. However I have to say this isn't the best idea. You need a way bigger tank. You need to research how to cycle a tank. Putting a fish into a non cycled tank is going to harm it if not kill it. I'm an angler and a aquarist. I have a 100 g tropical tank. Release this guy and set up that small 10g with a Betta and some corydora. Than buy a 300g and set up a bass tank like bama bass. Or a 100g with 1 or 2 bass and release them when they get too big or somthing. Do some more research into keeping fish properly before adding a way too big fish into a small tank. Even a 50g is too small. Anyway hope you don't take offence just wanted to give my 2 cents. Keep up the great fishing content brother
