The Stones can do anything. You want blues, rock , country, ballads to make you stop and tear up … they do it. That’s why they are still selling out stadium concerts 60 years on .

It’s all about Camp and Cabaret. It’s the show. Spectacle. Jagger, Roth, Mercury… it’s all about the show. Glorious.

Billy Preston was more or less a de facto member of the Stones from 1973 to 1976. He was a principal figure on the 1973 European Tour, the 1975 Tour of the Americas, and the 1976 European Tour. On the ‘73 European Tour, he was also the opening act, and on the subsequent two tours, he was given his own two-song set in the middle of the Stones’ set-that’s how much he was valued and respected. Also, Billy was gay and would not have been uncomfortable with Mick getting that close to him. They're “playing” on it. As for Mick’s outfit, he's paying homage to his Nicaraguan wife, Bianca.

This may be the first time I've seen this famous, short-necked bass Bill Wyman is playing. That must be it.

The black dude, better known as Billy Preston--look him up-- was cool. This was from 1976's Black and Blue album. For more Rolling Stones funk try Fingerprint File, Miss You, Sweet Black Angel and more. They do 'all' sounds, part of beong a band for 62 years, who are as we speak currently on tour. Nobody is even close.

You want funky Stones check out Fingerprint File. One of their best songs. Also this song is from their great 1976 album Black And Blue. A fantastic album. Try Fool To Cry from the same album. Great bluesy ballad.

Having watched a lot of Stones reactions, I've noticed it's very common for people to say that some aspect of Jagger's presence, movement, style or presentation reminds them of someone else. A lot of different someone elses. The reason for this is really very simple. Jagger started doing this stuff in 1962. He pretty much invented the concept of the rock frontman. The Beatles didn't really have a front man. They were more about harmonies & Lennon & McCartney took it in turns to be the lead. The more flamboyant showmen types among the earlier rockers ( Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard etc) were solo performers rather than fronting a band as such. It was Jagger that set down the template followed by thousands since. Everyone from Jim Morrison to Steven Tyler to David Lee Roth to Freddie Mercury to Axl Rose & beyond took something of it & did their own take on it. Mick just did it first. If you're the best, you can be surpassed some day...but if you're the first, you're the first forever. It'll be weird when he's gone.

I remember Van Halen opening for The Stones in 1981 Orlando. The crowd pelted them with debris. When the Stones hit the stage, a thinly disguised David Lee Roth studied Mick from sidestage looking for pointers.

Great choice man. One of the great Stones deep cuts, and that was a great point about the obvious Jagger influence on David Lee Roth. There's a ton of Stones material from the mid '60's to mid '70's that show a completely different side to their character, if you only know their hits. Incredible songs like "Loving Cup", "Let It Loose", "Winter", "Love In Vain", "Sweet Virginia", "100 Years Ago", "Fingerprint File", "Time Waits For No One", "Can You Hear The Music" display the band's ability to draw on elements of soul, rhythm and blues, funk, jazz, reggae, country, and of course, the blues. That they can manage to do this as an English band and sound more authentic than the bands from the U.S is remarkable.

Another funky song is Fingerprint File. Also: If I Was a Dancer, Everything Is Turning to Gold, Can You Hear the Music, Memory Motel (more r and B really than funk), and probably 20 more. On a 70s live album, can't recall the title, Mick was telling Billy Preston there between songs to stroke him. Several times. It was a different time for real. Less machismo bulls***.

Mick could wear whatever he wanted 😂 He was the originator of goofy camp lead singer . Some didn’t know what to make of him at first but if it was fun we were there for them. ☮️ Billy Preston could always hold his own with Jagger , he worked with them on lots of music. Funny how they were so secure with who they are, they could play -to me that’s sexy as hell

Nobody gave a crap how anyone was dressed then. Deep track... Rolling Stones is one of my favorite bands (and I'm a metal head)... I'll never flip the channel with them on. Was the sound track to the projects in the 70's and early 80's.
