Mick Beeby operating a Rapier W700 walking dragline in the DR Congo 2006 & illegal diamond miners

From 2002 Mick Beeby of Beeby Plant Repairs, UK dismantled this Rapier W700 walking dragline in Pennsylvania, USA and transported it by sea to South Africa and then overland to the Polygone diamond mine near Mbuji-Mayi in the Democratic Republic of Congo, on behalf of the DRC state mining company MIBA. There, he refurbished and rebuilt the dragline over 4 years, with it becoming operational in 2006. The machine was re-named Kanshi. This footage was taken by a freelance reporter and shows Mick Beeby operating the dragline and also some footage of the illegal mining that is rampant in the mine. In July 2006, Mick Beeby was ambushed in his vehicle by gunmen in the mine and was hit by gunfire. He was medivaced to Johannesburg, and died there three weeks later. If anyone has any information about this then please get in touch, his family would like to know. Reportedly the dragline was never put into operation after that, and I presume that it is still there.
