This is a great drill. I am going to try it out tonight with my team!

it doesn't work the same that way because that puts the passing defenseman and the receiving forward on the same side of the ice, which messes up the passing angle. you could do it, but you'd have to change either the forward's skating route, or the defenseman's, or both.

Would you have both D skating backwards towards each other? Might be dangerous?

Yep - if not it puts the passing defenseman and the receiving forward on the same side of the ice, which messes up the passing angle. It's good to keep your head up :)
