Michigan Football Has A SERIOUS QB Problem (No Good Options)

Спорт

While Michigan is fresh off a national title, all is not well in Ann Arbor as the Wolverines have to replace almsost their entire starting lineup, their elite coach and program changing quarterback in just a few months. Somehow, the Wolverines failed to land an elite QB in either the 2022 or 2023 recruiting class, so they are stuck with a few developmental QBs, a 7th year backup and a highly toughted freshman to work with. Today, I want to talk about the one potential major problem for the Wolverines, preview their QB room and talk about what should happen, enjoy!

Nice video. I agree with most of the analysis except Denegal having more potential than Alex Orji. Alex Orji is a true freak of nature and most college defenses won't be able to stop him just running RPOs and QB power. Mix in a couple deep balls to keep the defense on their toes, and I think Michigan will win a lot of games. Obviously if he's running all the time he might get banged up, so it's good to have Denegal as a backup.

  • @1234MarioDuane

I wanna see Orji, but I think Denegal is the guy. When you watch him, he's just a solid qb, 6'5 225, can run a little and is an accurate passer. It's gonna be tough because whoever wins out, the other is transferring for sure. Go Blue!

They will probably have a "QB battle" between Denegal and Orji in the beginning of the season. Tuttle will be the back-up to run out games when Michigan is way ahead. But, Davis needs to get some reps in 4th quarter blowouts because he will end up being the starter in 2025 and or 2026.

Michigan's going to have a top 10 defense. Offensive line has 3 players with multiple starts in the last 2 seasons. RT will be Persei or Gentry with the other being the 6th man. As they work together you'll have a running game that can put up 200-300 yards per game. Considering they have a tougher schedule this year probably not an undefeated season, but will make the 12 team playoffs again. You cannot risk that on a freshman QB unless even if he's Arch Manning. Orji can be a threat similar to Alabama's Young in the run game. Going back a couple of years he reminds of Tebow and If he proves he can pass accurately, runs RPO's with good decision making and hits the occasional long throw > 30 - 40 yards HE will be the guy. Denegal and Tuttle are good enough to manage the game but do not have the upside that Orji has. I see Tuttle as a bigger version of McNamara and don't see Denegal as the battering ram Orji is. We'll see what to expect for the season in the 2nd game vs Texas. If defense shuts Texas down - which I expect it to do. The Don, spelled occasionally by Hall and Mullings along with Orji will run the longhorns on the long cattle drive to the slaughter house. If that scenario ensues it'll set pattern and you'll see Michigan heading into game 8 at Oregon undefeated at 8-0. Defense will keep them in every game and running game ball possession will help run the clock - so if offense generates minimum of 20 points they'll be in great shape no matter who's at QB.

Wow, I think you need to take a look at what's really going on before you post things like this, Michigan is actually as far as quarterbacks go, they have a stable of good solid quarterbacks, they have all waited their turn in line with the exception of the newbies. . Dunegal, Orji, Smith and Tuttle are enough to make sure that there will be solid quarterback competition this spring... I believe that Alex Orji is probably going to be the FrontRunner... He is literally Jalen Milroe plus an arm JJ weighted his time, it was successful with the new add-ons, the kids that are coming through the portal and by recruitment have been solid adds - it just seems like you're more cynical Vans skeptical, it's one thing to be skeptical until cured, but there's no reason to sound cynical. All considering, Michigan has pretty much maintained all of the offensive line coaching... The key to the running back success will make sure that Mike Hart has been paid well, healthy and can assume that role.

Remember game winning drive v ND - and one play short v Michigan. What’s Syracuse got he can’t do much more at MI? OSU blamed CJ Stroud - twice - and now McCord (BU 3 points v MO) - pretty good company and OSU doesn’t know what it’s got til it’s gone. Burrow Stroud - McCord seems highest ceiling available and not the cause of the loss. Does anyone really blame 6th year 4,000 yard Penix - but it’s ALL McCord.

If Moore is the O-line guru we think he is and Orji or Tuttle end up being that dude, Michigan should go undefeated solely based off of how great the defense will be again. If Michigan ends up having a dud under center, 9-3 is realistic because there are 3 games on the schedule that the defense cannot win alone. Seriously, the offense needs to bring its A+ game against UT, Oregon, and OSU. If the offense manages to not skip a beat, we just might see a repeat of last year.

@@MichiganMan4Ever It doesn’t appear that Michigan will have a solid quarterback under center. Remember everything Harbaugh had before McCarthy? If defenses can load the box Michigan they won’t be able to run the ball we have seen this story before. Also Michigan has a few good pieces on defense a few good pieces don’t automatically make a top defense. Michigan has been lucky the last three years with lines that aren’t breaking in any new linemen. The pieces they have replaced they have done so with transfers that have a wealth of starting experience. Except for the Northwestern transfer this line will be the most inexperienced since before the Pandemic. You can be as optimistic as you want but that doesn’t change the facts on the ground.

So this video went from a "serious problem" to "concerning" in less than 30 sec. THIS is why I have such little regard for the expressions and opinions of college football fans. But you are amusing.

Hey everybody let me save you 11 and a half minutes: This is a clickbait video where the author broadly covers the high school career of each QB and then makes a bunch of speculative conclusions based off of recruiting stars and physical measurements. Nothing insightful or valuable in the entire video, especially if you are a michigan fan

Good job reading a script :( ...very, boring and lacking insightfulness. The Michigan offense is going to continue to Zig while the rest of the world zags. Orgi, Mullings, Edwards and Hall, and another excellent OL, will continue to run it down the opposition's throat.

Maybe this guy talking should get him a real job, having the nerve to say a certain player should get a real job.

M is going to have a Stallions tenure - "problem" - no matter 'what' QB they use !?! -- It won't be pretty and the program will be on it's heels for some time to come !!! -- Meanwhile - Ryan Day is - '''on fire''' - both in recruiting - and - in the portal use !!!!!

Ryan day has as many Nattis as Michigan during the 4 team playoff. Talk about wasting talent. Just been brutal watching his teams choke year after year.
