I find it interesting how they said OSU were "happy" to be up 20-17 at the half. I always felt if the game was close, a TD lead or less by OSU, Michigan could win in the second half. They have been a far better team in the second half.

  • @edp5499

I agree. I mean they should have been happy with the stats, but Michigan was still too close. That was the perfect storm. Can’t let your rival hang in a game. Michigan was against the ropes in the first half but OSU failed to land the knockout. That’s how you lose these games. Then the second half adjustments were just next level. OSU came out worse in the second half and Michigan just spontaneously combusted. Coaching staffs were not even close, even though Michigan coaching looked lost in the fist half.

One thing kinda weird, Wolverines would make their tackles and then just release, whereas OU guys seemed like they had some anger in them and needed to go the extra mile and punish Mich. players but all they did was get a bunch of costly stupid penalties. OU players seemed out of control, and not really confident, the Wolverines seemed a lot more confident. But at the end of the day, as usual, the O line and D line of Mich wore em out.

We play manball defense with really big guys up front, whereas the Big 12 plays more speed and space since they have to account for the high flying offenses. That doesn’t work in the Big 10 when you play teams like Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, and Penn State

Yeah i left on the interception. The whole game was frustrating, players not acting right, trrrible coaching calls, terrible qb performance, stover and wr dropping a few catches. The defense litterally looking lost af on almost half the plays there would be someone not knowing where tf they needed to be. As great as michigan played i cant say this in a way to take away from the way they absolutely fucking dominated us. However, two comments just tell me what the problem is. The coach and the stroud thinking this game doesnt define them or their success?? And stroud only being here for the talent that he would have at his disposal. Im sorry but this game does define everything for you. It is a fucking culture. Being a buckeye is being apart of the fucking cult and im not in denial about it, i expect them to fall the fuck inline foam at the mouth for this game, this game if you win and end the season at 1-10 is a fucking good year. Any other idea on what success is, well it doesnt belong. Jim harbaugh is proving himself a man, and frankly any buckeye fan that ever though coaching was their issue, they were blind. They lacked the talent, they had some people lacking the drive and love of the culture, but it was never at the coaching position, and the coach can fix that. Here at osu we have a coach being a pussy and disregarding the rivalry is a sure way out the fucking door, especially when it is to the point a player wearing that uniform feels confident enough to say it outloud and to the fucking media. Rant over good job michigan, it hurts to lose but it needs to happen its not a rivalry if a generation goes by without a loss. If the buckeyes do end up out for sure, i will be rooting for you guys to bring the natty home to the big ten and truly truly destroy those shit sec teams.

OSU's defensive strategy to crowd the line of scrimmage worked ... for a while. Once JJ and his receivers figured it out, they made them pay for it. Later in the game, Donovan found a few creases, and because OSU was up on that line he had clear sailing to the endzone. Had Michigan had Blake healthy, the score would've been even more one-sided. Honestly I think that was a strategic error for OSU. You sell out to stop the run against Corum, but not against Edwards or any of the other backs. Once JJ started passing effectively against man coverage, which OSU SUCKS at, then Michigan effectively broke their defense down. They would have been better off with a balanced defense designed to stop big plays both on the ground and in the air. By selling out they left vulnerabilities which they foolishly thought JJ could not exploit. Then as they scrambled to correct it they left gaping holes in the run defense. It was like taking candle from a baby. VERY bad defensive strategy.

Ohio St. biggest problem as I see it.. They have the Don Brown of Michigans past. A coordinator that did a great job agains the weaker teams that didnt have the tools to threaten his schemes. But, then when he faced any team with firepower he was exposed and trashed.. The Mich. St. Ohio St. I feel that was what Ohio St. was fooled by this season as well. The only team they faced that actually any sort of pass game was Maryland and you seen how close they came to taking them down. Michigan just followed up on that. Michigans Defensive schemes under MacDonald and Mintor have been what has completely changed this game. Ohios coaching staff tried to disguise toughness with more people in the box. Which right there says.. You know you arent tough enough up front to handle whats coming at you. Don't feel bad. We Michigan fans had the same smoke thrown in our eyes for years as well.

Ryan Day said that he spent an entire year preparing for Michigan, and his team lost by a worse margin and almost in a worse way this year than last year.
