Don't change at all Vance! In the 90s my high school and college football coaches were the same way. To the parents who is watching this is how football coaches roll in the film room. It's nothing personally this is how you hold a group accountable to one another and when the guys grow up they will look back and love their coach for coaching the way they did.... it's all love

It’s easy to say analytics told me to do this. Franklin was looking for an excuse for why he was overly aggressive so he blamed analytics. Analytics does not say go for 2 early in the first half if your the home team against that defense. If your analytics guy is saying go for it fire him. That guy is not writing an equation that has enough complexity to express all of the variables in that situation if it is saying go for 2 in that situation. But like I said I think Franklin is just blaming analytics for his own stupidity.

Can someone explain the flaw in my understanding. On the first attempt going for 2 a successful conversion would allow you to tie the game with a FG. If you take the extra point, you have to score at least a TD or 2 FGs. The gamble to go for two is therefor gambling with house money, especially if you think points will be hard to come by. On the second one, you know you’re going to have to go for 2 at some point. Going for the attempt when there’s still time allows you to determine how you need to play the rest of the game, whether you need to score once or twice. I don’t think Franklin’s great but I think he’s getting trashed a little too hard for this.

No its simple math you kick the extra point on the first one because theres to much time left in the game you take the point and go down 4 but he went for 2 and didnt get it now youre down 5. Later in the game they score a td and now there down 9 you kick the extra point to go down 8 but he goes for 2 and doesnt get it now the game is basically ovee because even if psu got the ball back there wouldnt be enough time to get that 1 point. You chase points early in the game and dont get it now you will be chasing those points all game.
