I don't think Michelle intended to throw any shade. She spoke what she truly thinks about the whole thing but still tried to be respectful. If MM or the RF (or fans of either side) felt that there was any shade in her statements, then maybe they recognize that there's some truth in it and that truth somehow hurts them.

She is not weighing in she is criticizing her. Being in public service is not about „me“ it’s about serving the people.

sorry, I missed the part where she questions whether or not what Meghan is saying is actually true? (and I am, for the record. a huge fan of Michelle Obama who has always been a class act and a true inspiration to us all). Mrs.Obama says she hopes for healing, but not for a single second does she question if what Meghan says is actually true. Meghan may have felt that she was treated unjustly and with racism but that does not make it true, does it? Not for a single second does Mrs. Obama say that maybe the RF has feelings too, in fact they are immediately made the culprit (in the line of "racism is everywhere and so Mrs. Obama is not surprised the RF is racist just because Meghan says so, but we all hope for forgivenesss"- meaning we have to forgive the RF). Very disssapointing for me. Forgive the RF for what? For king Charles walking Meghan down the aisle because she could not keep a decent relationship with her own father? How racist of him! For HMTQ inviting her to a trip just for the two of them even before Meghan was married into the RF, which courtesy HMTQ has never extended to Catherine after all her years of service? Indeed, how racist of HMTQ! Sorry Mrs. Obama, I still greatly admire you and respect you as I always have - but imho you were wrong on this one!

I have no doubt so much of what really happened is that Meg didn’t want to do the work. What Michelle & the queen call a life of “service”. It’s hard to do this kind of job as a statesmen bc there isn’t a paid deal for each visit. The President & his wife don’t get paid to visit the people at every event. So when ppl started to out meg about complaining about not getting paid for the “job” in Australia, she needed someone to pin the blame on & make herself look good for leaving. Unfortunately this strategy hasn’t worked out as well as she intended.

And this is “first and foremost about family” aka keep family business in family and “public light is very bright that most people don’t understand” aka that was not very clever to bring out in public. “Racism is a construct” aka it’s a very subjective experience, and she will not comment on whether or not Meghan is speaking other than her own truth. I watched this a few times and the first time I thought Mrs. Obama was going to say something in high support of Meghan. The next few times I watched it, I could see how measured and in the middle she was staying and making basically three statements, all of which are true: One, that racism has always been in the construct of people of color and as such Meghan should basically have expected it. Two, public service is about the others that are served, so Meghan should hopefully focus on these others. Three, first and foremost it should be about family. In other words, perhaps there was another way to voice unhappiness without outwardly attacking her own and her husband's family. Mrs. Obama never said anything critical, but rather, took a higher road approach.

Barak and Michelle were and are full of grace and dignity. We in the UK treasure the memory of their visits. Their fondness of the Queen and her family was reciprocated. I hope they come to the Queen's funeral on Sept. 19th.

Silvia, you’re at 408 likes at the time of this comment! It’s hilarious that people will take exception to the objective truth that she is loved by many. She had a bestseller for months and sold out venues for her book tour. Just because someone personally doesn’t like her doesn’t mean many don’t. I hate Trump, but many do love him. First of all, this woman did not really understand about royalty; and they knew this. They should have educated her and trained her to behave in the manner that the royal family would be pleased with her, she just had a baby, and was already post trauma in that aspect, instead of criticism her and helping her and guiding her to behave and under about her job position no one did that. She was already fragile. I just know she was not treated fairly. They did not give her the knowledge and training so she would understand what was acceptable behaviour and what was not, plus being a new mom with a new born baby. I believe they disrespected her and made her feel like, she was NOBODY, and that was not the case. And the British flag says it all; a long history of racism and bigotry..

To summarise she said public service is tough and doesn’t suit everyone. But if you get that platform then turn the light on the oppressed and not on yourself. And family is the most important thing. It is clear she doesn’t side with H&M.

Michelle is classy and made sure she didn’t take any side. That was so classy because I think Oprah failed to ask a lot of questions.

I agree. There were many falsehoods in Meghsns remarks from the wedding ahead of the wedding- to Archie nit being a Prince ecause of race. Archie be a great- Grandchild of the Monarch isn't eligible by law to he a Prince. You have to be a Grandchild. When his Grandfather Prince Charjes takes the throne Archie will be a Prince. Harry should have know that. It's shocking how ill-infirned they are over the Monarchy that they were a part of.

The truth of the matter is you are not there when she does those acts of service so you can not judge if she is doing it and making it about herself. Most people on the receiving end say she is down to Earth and nice. So the only way you can truly say she made it about herself is if you were there and she treated you or someone else badly. Public Service is about giving back in the public's interest. It is NOT about giving back so that you can benefit it and thinking about oneself like Meg and Harry. Pure class! I love this woman.

The thing that stands out to me about Meghan Markle is the disconnect between what she says and what she does. She has said serving others is her goal yet she has spent considerable time and energy since marrying Prince Harry telling us how difficult her life is. She is not actually serving others in any meaningful way. Additionally, perhaps Harry and Meghan should seek private counseling to work through and eventually resolve and heal their issues--instead of imposing them on all of us on national television.

Like do they not remember when Meghan said in her interview if she even wanted to grab lunch with someone to get out after being inside for months at a time they’d say it’s too risky cause of how much heat the media was attacking her.. So if that did actually happen she could’ve been wanting to do her usual things with her charities that they would use that as an excuse so she wouldn’t go out. But from the looks of the comments it’s mostly Americans who love Meghan and Harry then the UKs hating them 😅 and they won’t look up the things she’s done or then they’d be proving themselves wrong but instead theyd rather hear the media speak negatively. One thing ive learned from Quarantine and the past election is always fact check headlines cause it will say something baiting enough to where people won’t even click to read and then the headline isn’t even remotely close to the real story 🤦🏻‍♀️

I have never experienced racism from the British people But I have experienced it when I have travelled to america before. Michelle Obama is amazing and should run for president.

Michelle disappointed me with her comments it was punting and carefully crafted.

She was suffering from post-partum depression and neither Harry nor herself even considered that. I know there is racism, but I would think that it was very exaggerated in her state of mind, and it clearly spiraled downward.
