Michelle Heaton and husband Hugh open up about coping with addiction

Michelle Heaton’s husband feared she would end up dead if he did not stand by her as she battled crippling alcoholism.
It sounds terrifying, but Hugh Hanley knew if he left his wife of 11 years, their two children faced the prospect of losing their mother.

Unfortunately mostly for the person addicted to alcohol is that reaching rock bottom becomes the catalyst for change. The truth becomes realised at that lowest point as to what & who one has devolved into. I’m speaking from personal experience of having gone there. 11 plus years sober now… The recovery journey is the discovery of the getting to know the authentic self on a spiritual level primarily. The alcoholism is the symptom which fills this missing void. Addictive personalities are real. The addict might forgo alcohol, but the addictive psychology remains & may express in many other ultimately self destructive ways. The getting to know the self & one’s own self destructive tendencies takes time and becomes one’s ongoing life journey. This is the process of psychological recovery.

There is help Yes and Lots, however 😉,…not All the kind of help works for everyone!….its when 😉 its the right time and the person truly is ready to stop!….thats when one can be ready to stop addiction!…the only REAL words that TRULY WORK is taking A Day At A Time cause the beginning of Soberness is not easy At All 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️🙂

Not everyone can afford the Priory. This illness ripped my family apart due to an in law. Whilst your whining and making a living from speaking about your addiction, spare some thoughts for people who can't afford private health care. Your one of the lucky ones. Its not "easy" for everyone, be mindful.

I agree totally it ripped my family apart we sadly lost my brother through this addiction as the help came too late it had already ripped through his organs.

Go and do some research. It will help you to understand her view point. She's passionate about wanting to help. Is that, that bad? Her perspective was like living in insanity.

I guess she doesn't care about tradition 11. Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion; we need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio, and films.

That's not true , recovery is possible for everyone, the 12 step meetings are free and widespread and are available , go on the website to find local meetings . Addiction is classless plus rehabs are unessacery . Meetings are the way and sponsors .
