Excellent review. These tires I wanted to get for MY so I appreciate the review
I am about to get these same tires on my Model 3 and your video really solidified this as a great choice in my mind. Yea!
I switched to cross climate 2 from bridgestone ecopia on my 2018 lexus RX almost a year ago. After driving today through some severe downpour near the Chicago area on the interstate and some water logged streets I feel I made the best decision ever given where I live. The amount of grip I felt in the downpour on the Interstate driving at 45-50mph was incredible. The visibility stopped me from going any faster. There were cars with hazards on, hugging the slow speed lane and I could relate as I'd have done the same with my bridgestone. I remember that feeling when your tires don't grip well in wet conditions and you feel it through your steering. Last winter I also did a trip up north through Quebec to Saguenay in some severe winter storm and CC2 did a decent job. I won't compare this all weather CC2 with proper winter tires but highly recommend them over any all season tires. They have tremendous amount of grip in rain. In snow they do a better job than any all season out there and therefore the slight increase in cabin noise is a fair tradeoff in my opinion. Getting rotation and alignment done in regular interval is crucial to maintaining good tread. I drove them over 9k miles and I'm currently down to only 9/32 on all four tires. Pros: All weather. Great grip in rain. Good in snow. Cons: Less on aesthetic. Not as quiet as stock RX tires.
As much as I love the Cross Climate 2. They sure have a downside of getting nails, screws and bolts in them so much easier than I have had with previous tires. I love these tires for the snow!

My Pirelli PZ4 on my MYP are super at collecting pictures!
I'm LOVING mine so far. The real test comes soon, my Colorado ski trip.
Main point of contact...? Only, I hope... That said, I have a question...this looks like the performance model Tesla? How do those tires (CC2's) handle the power? Does it hook, spin, what? I am torn on CC2's and Pilot Sport AS 4's. Thankyou!
I purchased 4 MCC2 tires for my wife's MYP. After 10 months of use I took them to Tire Discounters for a rotation. They told me that the tires were torn on the inside with a 10 inch rip on both tires. Apparently, the torque from MYP created a small fissure in the rubber compound which then extended into a long tear. My wife was literally driving two tires which were ready to blow at any time. While these are the best winter tires that I've used, I am not going to have them on such powerfully torqued car. My Plaid has Pilot 4S+ AS and I would suggest those for a Tesla.

Interesting. I’ll have to keep a close eye on it. I’m going to treat them as my dedicated “winter tire” so my Uberturbines will hopefully be coming back in a couple of weeks.

I've never enjoyed a tire review more than this one you sexy little vixen 😘 I'm using these tires on my Lexus LS and really dig em! I could watch you review all day and it wouldn't matter what you'd be reviewing 😍
@evchill what's the width of your 20" rims?
I had no idea that you could buy a true winter tire with the mountain snow emblem and it is also an M+S tire! This means that I would not need to chain up my Dual Motor Model 3 for those winter trips to the mountains and I could leave them on year round. The draw backs might be some tread noise and a few percent loss in range. Thank you so much for this video and I will check them out very soon.

Well it isn’t a dedicated winter tire from michelin their alpin and ice x are dedicated winter tires But yes off top of my head these crossclimate all weather and the all season vredestein quatrac pros are 2 that have the 3 peak and M+S

I have these on my Model 3 and they're great. A bit less sharp in the summer but decent, and they're really good in snow or heavy rain as well.

@@GregHassler Thank you Greg!
The tires are great they look great the only problem with them is if you have a sharp bump in the road it sounds like the car is coming apart and hammers like nobody’s business, and that’s on a Lincoln MKZ with the magnetic soft riding suspension I like Michelin tires what is my favorite, I have Michelin tires on my Mustang and my other Lincoln and they both ride and handle wonderfully with these tires are awfully hard writing.
I watched the entire video. Even though I live in Los Angeles. And drive on Summer tires all year.

Haha well how about we swap locations. You come here and use winter tires and I’ll live in sunny year-long LA!
Do you feel that the stock 21" wheels/tires on the MYP provide too harsh of a ride for daily driving and road trips? That's my biggest concern in deciding between performance vs long range AWD w/ the 20" wheels. I also live in VA (central Virginia).
@EVandChill
2 жыл бұрын
It is def a firm ride but I don’t think it’s harsh. I had 20”s on during the winter and my untrained sense of feel didn’t really notice a difference.

@@EVandChill thanks for the reply…good to know you didn’t sense a difference between a 20” and a 21” wheel
@gokaruna

@@kapeejay I hope you decided to go with the MYP. I live in the DC Metro area and glad I went with the MYP. Not a harsh ride at all. You do feel the road obviously but its not harsh. You can always drop down to 19" after market wheels and get a tire of your choice like the CC2's. You will have a noticeable difference in ride comfort and if you pick a 19" EV01+ wheel from Fast EV a Canadian company you can even see a range increase in the MYP.
I’m having a real hard time finding 21” winter tires for my MYP

We did as well. Only real option i found really was from Pirelli so I ended up buying a 20” wheel and tire set.

I keep hearing that people lose gas mileage with these tires.
Anyone have enormous treadlife out of the CC2's they care to share?
Hello. In your opinion, which is the better/best all weather tire, and why? The Michelin CrossClimate 2, Goodyear Assurance Max Life, or Michelin Defender? From 1st choice to least choice, please? Thank you so much for you help. It’s greatly appreciated.
@EVandChill
Жыл бұрын
Hey Mike! Of those three choices, the CC2 is really the only all-weather tire (3 snow pk and M+S) as the other two are only M+S. If you are in an area that receives some snow, 100% CC2. But if you live in a more neutral climate, seems like the Defender offers a smoother ride while doing well in the rain.
check out th Nokias wr g4
Tire categories have gotten very dumb the past 10 years tbh But your explanation of all season and all weather is good tho the lines have been blurred a bit nowadays I will point out 1 thing tho the less than 40 degrees thing is for actual summer tires that turn into hockey pucks, not all season tires they do “fine” under 40 but not as good as dedicated winters or good winter all weathers It’s why the model y performance doesn’t come with the Michelin pilot sport summer anymore cause lots of people complained they had to get tires for winter or all season/weather So tesla finally threw the pilot all season as soon as they were available in that tire size for the 21s Tire research is a rabbit hole almost so many options and so many within a category that will be different from each other
I've been using the GoodYear WeatherReady tires. I think they are pretty comparable to the CrossClimates.

@@chhoeunsann88 I would bet on the CC2 having a longer life. Even the small groves are cut to full depth, which is unusual for tire manufacturers given the added tooling wear.

You'll be changing the tires after 30k if you put them on an EV. Go with the Hankook ion Evo AS. Very good handling and manufacturers warranty to 50k miles.

The noise is due to the weight of EV’s the tire runs more square and makes more noise. They should be quieter on most cars.

Road Hugger GT from America’s tire for your 18 inch Model 3!! No aggressive V here, but they will grip all day and night long! 😝👍🏻. Best tires out of the 5 different sets I have tried on my 3.
Well . . . I just learned that Innuendo is not an Italian suppository.
You're not just a pretty face, you are smart too. I love my Crossclimate + tires on my Model 3 as well. I've had these tires since Oct 2019, just in time for covid. I would put these on all our cars too, but they don't come in all sizes. I don't see any for the ID.4 just yet, though it will be a while before we need to replace those. Worth noting that Crossclimate tires are directional, so you can't rotate them the same way you can with normal tires.
