Hi, I'm the sound engineer who worked on this project. We won, also, a EMMY Award and the program was titled: Can the Sistine Chapel be recovered??. If I remember well The final client was NOVA part of a PBS service...they were based in Toronto. This is just a part of the documentary.

I do not know when this was made but I have heard more ten once from other articles and books on Michelangelo that Michelangelo most definitely did add a secco fresco layer especially in the blues as the blue pigments did not react well in the highly alkaline lime plaster. And there was also Gold leaf applied in areas as well. This was from those restoring the Sistine Chapel ceiling But most of the main work was done in wet plaster or Buon Fresco as they showed in the video.

Normally it's best to do the pouncing from the bottom to the top, because otherwise all the spilled charcol falls over the lower lines and you can't see where you are! Then as you move up, you always can see a virgin surface to work on the lines and details. If you miss a detail you can really spoil a day's work, as it's just suddenly gone. It's an excellent video, I keep watching it to learn more.

Lapiz Lazuli is not Cobalt, and is in fact not compatible with the alkaline plaster. It was only applied a secco.

Does anyone know what video this is from and if it could be purchased? Couldn't find anything with NOVA associated with it but could be just missing something. Thanks.
