Those elegant "ritardando" at the end of each half are the best touch, seal and cherry on top: they don't start at the last bar but before, at the last phrase.

Ben detto, questo è uno di quei pezzi che a vedere la partitura sembrano facilissimi, invece trovare il suono giusto e l'equilibrio, intanto dando un senso all'interpretazione, è a mio avviso parecchio arduo.

I believe that the sound is much influenced by the fact that is an old mono recording... listening to Michelangeli´s sound on his recordings like live concerts from 70 - 80´s shows he had a very colourful and distinct sound. Truth is he was playing Italian baroque with a very stylish approach, definitely not in a romantic style. I find this very nice and refined performance and quite convincing.

I don't think you went too deep into the matter, considering your superficial comment. Characteristic of Scarlatti is a very clean and brilliant sound, the instruments at the age of Scarlatti were harpsichords, which had a very dry and well defined sound. Its compositions were written for those instruments. The version of Michelangeli is more philologic, the version of Horowitz is more actual.I hope you reconsider your evaluation under the light of awareness.

Pur nella complessiva perfezione di Michelangeli e la sua mirabile interpretazione, l'ascoltatore più attento si sarà accorto che al minuto 2.38 Michelangeli salta una nota. Non cambia nulla nel complessivo dell' interpretazione ma l'errorino c'è!

I prefer this style of playing to Uchida. He sits mostly still and plays. She leans and throws her head back and forth. Cannot stand that. Props to Michelangeli!

Me parece un sonido gélido y agresivo. Si quiere un Hapsichord ,que toque uno. Chopin se hubiera ido horrorizado. Lipatti también, claro. Que cosa tan desagradable.! Desde luego Horowitz lo hacia mejor también.
