Michel Lefebvre: CERN and the ATLAS Detector | Podcast #1

Ғылым және технология

For the first podcast of this channel, I interview my old MSc supervisor, Dr. Michel Lefebvre. He is Professor of Physics at the University of Victoria, BC, Canada. His research interests and contributions focus on the exploration of the laws of nature using proton collisions at the highest available energies. He is a founding member of the ATLAS Collaboration at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, and acted as founding Spokesperson of the ATLAS Canada Collaboration in 1992. He remains very active in research and teaching.

Congratulations from Spain! Been following you since you had less than 5k followers I think. It's amazing how much you have grown. You desserve all of this. Great job!

Yes the classic class I sat in on was consider Fx.... or let X equal ..... with no context . It is left for the engineer to link the use of the math to the solving problems of real world

YES! Fucking great idea man, we need to hear more about all those people that are not "celebrity" scientists. Please continue doing this.

Congrats on reaching 100k subs! Your channel was very helpful in helping me understand the importance of effective computation in physics, and that greatly enhanced the quality of my undergrad thesis. Off late, I have also enjoyed Billy's adventures. This new idea of podcasts with accomplished physicists seems amazing. Keep up the good work. Cheers!

Congratulations to your 100k subs :) As far as I remember I caught you pretty early on with only a few thousand subs and I've been a huge fan ever since :) In the vast sea of ever repeating and useless python tutorials you are truly unique! With your GPU acceralted scientific numerical calculations you even stepped it up a notch! Keep up the amazing work!

Particle physics is such an interesting subject. Barely touched upon in my public education, had to learn about all these things on my own.

I'm hoping when you have ended university you have time to post some videos. I have enjoyed them all.
