Cinema would not be the same without Michael York. What an amazing man, actor, mentor and inspiration.

I thought I saw Micheal York wandering around South Kensington London once circa 2006-2012. He looked about 25 years younger than he does in this video before this terrible disease struck him. I was and will always be a fan of his work.

I lived in Hammersmith around 2010. I thought I saw him near Olympia walking towards Earls Court. I couldn't recall his name at the time, but recognised him as someone super famous. I should have guessed his name as my mum was huge fan.

If there ever is a Logan's Run remake, he needs to be the Old Man.

As I watch Michael here , I note how eloquent , open and invested he is. Such a special soul. I really wish the man beside him was more respectful and patient. He seemed to be watching the clock and not very personable. I applaud Michael for using his platform to help other people. I've loved him since Romeo And Juliet ♡ praying for his continued healing.

My wife died of pulmonary amaloidosis in June 2017, 7 years after her initial diagnosis. She had a short period of chemotherapy, but because of persistent chest infections this treatment was not completed. Apart from that it was just a case of treating the symptoms. Our GP and support staff were brilliant and made her as comfortable as they could. Thank you Michael for bringing this disease to the forefront.

What a service Mr. York is doing to those who have Amyloidosis, both in getting diagnosed and getting help afterwards. I had the pleasure of meeting him and his amazing wife Pat. They are both such outstanding members of our society. May he and others with this rare disease get well.

Gee his presentation is far more dynamic to just a presentation he did five years ago. He’s incredibly quick witted. Met him in the 90s - still a true, very kind gentleman of the finest kind. May the blue light be with you

damn. i am sorry to hear he is afflicted with this! but I am very glad that he is using his celebrity status to increase the knowledge about this disease.

I’m so sorry he’s afflicted w this disease. I just love him in all his roles. 🌹

It's sad that he no longer resembles the Basil Exposition I know.

I've loved him ever since my oldest/fav brother Dan took me to see Romeo & Juliet in 1968. He's not only handsome, but smart, classy & kind!

He used to be so vocal. A very talented man. But I still honor him now for all he has done.

@@gamestation2690 he explained that his voice became effected due to the amyloid deposits collecting in his tongue and throat it started to make his voice raspy and hard to communicate so yes he doesn’t sound like he used to but he’s still him.

oh my God ...I almost cry when I saw the sad physical look that illness has made on his body .... if God is perfect ...how can he tortures his sons like this? ...I don't know ...Michael York ...nothing of his powerful voice remains ...of his strong physical presence ....noooo ...this is unfair ...I'm feeling so sad ...all in this life has an end ...but .... I also admire strongly his courage ...being there and speaking about his disease.

My sister died of amyloidosis in 2008. At the time of her diagnosis, which came too late to give her much time, she told me it was not the familial type. However, recently I recognized that my swollen tongue and many other symptoms are like amyloidosis. I have an appointment in a few weeks to be evaluated for same. How rare would that be to have sisters with the same disease even though it is not familial amyloidosis.
