I’ve got a back and side set of “the tree”, I can only hope I do it justice when it comes to craftsmanship and assembly.

22 years ago when I finally had some money, I was looking for a keeper acoustic guitar and considered buying a Somogyi. At the time, they ran about $15,000. I asked myself if I truly felt strongly enough about buying an acoustic guitar to spend that kind of money. The answer was yes, but it was still just too much. Now I see they're $40,000, and I don't give a shit how much money I have now - I would never drop that kind of coin. No guitar is worth that much. Clearly there are very many people with too much money.

Well, I guess allowing for inflation etc that’s probably the same sort of buying power 20 years later. It is a lot of money, but compared to violin or cello players we get off lightly. You could pay $40k for a good concert bow let alone the instrument itself.

@MichaelWatts yeah, definitely. It comes down to what you get out of it. Obviously, if you have money to burn, it makes the decision to buy one far easier, but if it brings you happiness every time you pick it up, its aclot easier to justify. People throw far more than that away on bad habits hoping for the same feeling, and end up with nothing. Id rather the guitar.
