He copies nobody, they copy him. Greatest rock guitar player ever. He's so melodic in his style of playing. The very first time I had heard him he was only 15 years old on the Scorpions Lonesome Crow album. I was blown away at how accomplished he was at such a young age

There's a good reason Michael Schenker is my all time favorite guitarist. When he says that he doesn't even know what he just played it's because he's so into it, he literally loses himself. There are players who play faster, or different in some way that make people compare, but art is art. It is 100% interpretive. Michaels playing for me is like Beethoven, or Wagner. Classic, fluid, but mostly BEAUTIFUL beyond words. If it touches your soul it's great. If it TORCHES your soul it's Michael.

@@MrMalambing Hey, Thanks Man, I meant every word of it. By now I have seen him close to 90 times!! The last time I saw him was at The Whiskey on Sunset in Hollywood. It was literally the same week that Paul Raymond had passed away, so before the band started playing, Michael spoke with us. Btw, my Woman was with me and we were 5 feet away from him. He mentioned Ted McKenna who had died a few months earlier, and Paul, and then he spoke about how he didn't get some credits on Lovedrive because of Rudolf (it's actually because Michael was still signed to Chrysalis the label that UFO was on and the Scorpions were on another label), and then they played Holiday to start the show. I bought a concert tee shirt with the album cover on the front for The Michael Schenker Fest Resurrection. It was April 2019. I'm hoping to see him LIVE again next year if he comes to LA. Peace Man. ✌️

I'm a fan of many many guitar players but this guy has just got something that's on another level. The choices of the notes that he chooses and the cords in the way that where you think is going to go one way and he ends up in another place,,it's very unorthodox and very intriguing. Michael Schenker just got something special going on

Michael masters an incredible technique, the difference between him and the other guys is that he doesn't waste it in useless showoff, he perfectly knows how to balance it ! He works for the good of the whole song, not only his solos parts. And that's how a genius mind thinks and works..

EVERY SINGLE SHOW, about 2-3 songs into it, I get this overwhelming sense of joy, want to start dancing (I don't dance!), and just get swept away in his playing. He's such a genius as a player. So interesting to hear Schenker 'after' hearing all the various players he's influenced. It makes everyone's style seem so much more derivative now that I see how similar they are to him. His lead style is so melodically conducive, it's no wonder he's been approached by everyone from the Stones to Ozzy.

From late 70's on they probobly would have sold many more V's in healthy numbers. Oh well.

Very strange. At first I thought he must be speaking in German with an English guy doing a voice over translation.

+DinoRocker 86 In the first place I was joking. In second place Billy Idol was a nobody when this video was made, also Michael Schenker has been recording since 1972. So I can't see how a Punk Rocker from a little know band called Generation X is going to influence Schenker. Michael sported this look since 1979. lol

***** This video was shot in around 1983 during the Built to Destroy tour. You can look at all three of his previous albums before Built to Destroy, he has the same hair cut and even the same leather jacket since the second album, which was MSG.

***** It was called Punk Rock by the music industry in the 70's and 80's to differentiate it from other forms of Rock, also because it was unrefined and raw. Punk is a shorten name for Punk Rock. What does this have to do with Schenker?

***** Yes, obviously Schenker plays circles around those "Punks"... lol He also plays circles around most if not all other guitar players on the planet, living or dead.

It's very interesting how depending on your nationality and the time period of your youth the English you learn is either associated with England or America and you get different accents. He is clearly German or Austrian etc and that's obviously the accent. But you can hear a twinge of British in there where as I notice today many Germans sound almost American when they speak English. Probably because of the influx of American culture world wide these days compared to in the 60s/70s when this dude was growing up.
