Michael O'Leary of Ryanair defends no compromise airport policies
Ryanair’s boss has hit out at critics of the airline’s airport fees policy, saying “that enables us to offer lower fares”.
An elderly couple were recently charged £110 at London Stansted airport after inadvertently checking in online for their inbound rather than outbound journey. Ruth and Peter Jaffe, aged 79 and 80 respectively, reluctantly paid the fee.

I like Ryanair's booking and checkin process. It's like an idiot filter.

Coffin dodgers. That's who.
“The daughter’s complaining” Lol, tough luck and more likely her fault than Ryanair’s. Everybody knows Ryanair’s rules. If she considers her parents “eldery” and unable to deal with simple online processes, she should have helped. When my mom didn’t know how to use one app or another, we sat with her and we taught her. But there is a big chance this woman’s parents are not digitally illiterate. And if it was supposed to show Ryanair as the “bad ones”, once again: honey, you failed. Nobody expects Ryanair to be “will do whatever you want” sort of an airline and like Michael O’Leary said, you get a few reminders. She just gave Ryanair a lot of free publicity.
Customer service costs money. Ryanair don't provide it and don't charge for it. If you're not paying for something, don't get annoyed when you don't get it.

Actually you can have that service if you want that. You can either book the more expensive fare option or just pay the fee at the desk. Either way you get your desired service if you want to pay for it

Toffs dont know how cheap airlines work.
I booked a flight earlier this week and forgot to check in online, hadn’t flown in years and before Covid I don’t think I’d ever booked a flight for myself before anyway. I got my Ryanair ticket at the last minute, 32 hours before departure. I expected an email in the morning 24 hours before the flight which is when check-in opened but it never came, never got anything. Sure enough got to the airport and surprised with a £55 smack in the face. Bastards. If I got the reminders and I ignored them then yeah fair enough, that’s your bad. But as for the ‘agreement to check-in online’ that everyone does, sounds like that’s buried in the Terms and Conditions and who the hell reads those. I complained to the customer services explaining that I wasn’t informed about the fee nor sent any reminders but they didn’t pay any attention and just kept repeating that I had been given repeated reminders. Idiots. They should send reminders to people who buy flights after the two-day window, too.
Having to check for a flight is just totally unnecessary. I don't need to check in for a bus or a train trip. When u buy your ticket u should be checked in already.

Weight calculations are not that important for a bus or a train trip, but when it comes to airplanes it's pretty important to know how many people, how much baggage and how much fuel you are trying to put it the air.

What about the fat bastards who weigh double the average but you can't ask their weight in case of upsetting them. Should be made to pay on your total weight. Body and luggage combined.

We check in flights, and have passports at airports because: - a guy with a knife cant kill a whole bus or train. bringing an extra 2000lbs doesnt jeopardize a train or a bus ride. Buses and trains arent common modes of entering other countries. Air travel costs far more than bus or train, and passengers on standby bring in more revenue.
I've got the worrying feeling that he might become Ireland's Trump.

He isn't 'crying', he's logically explaining the reason for being charged for check-in at the airport. If you fly RyanAir would you rather have the option to check-in online and save money on a reduced ticket price or would you rather have the cost of those check-in desks incorporated into your ticket?
