As a student pilot who depends on and closely monitors weather forecasts I have found that accuweather sucks. THE MOST ACCURATE weather forecast is the national weather service. It is a lot harder to find the right website for the information you are looking for, but when you find it, it is awesome. There is a page of 48 hr forecasts for all types of variables such as wind speed and direction, cloud coverage percentage, ceiling, fog, precipitation, etc etc. It is broken up by hour. It is great.

The problem with Lewis' analysis as I see it - and I'm a huge fan of his books - is that if good government is only dollars of funding and willingness away, why is it that over the last few decades, as the government's portion of GDP (and extra legislation) has continuously increased the US still is doing as badly on key issues as ever? (healthcare, education, poverty, inequality, etc.). It isn't simply about money. The US government is FAR more active and controlling now, than ever, and yet.... where are the improved outcomes?

    - Lewis may be right about Obama driving 20% of the people nuts. For myself, I liked the guy, didn't think he had the experience, or skills, but did have the temperament. What I didn't like was the idea a guy who is only half black, and was entirely brought up by his white side family, and went to elite institutions, was "Black". Everyone was intent on making him as divisive as possible by playing the identity politics. I think the dems are responsible for driving that narrative, along with others who wanted to believe their own virtue for electing a black man. And in the end, the need to paint Obama in simplistic terms undermined the whole idea of change people could believe in.

Two items which reinforce what Michael Lewis said; 1) At 43:46, Michael refers to McConnell as a 'miserable bastard'. Since giving the talk presented here, McConnell has further substantiated this description. Despite most Republican senators siding with the house on maintaining sanctions against the oligarch 'Deripaska', McConnell pressured them to lift the sanctions. Shortly thereafter, Deripaska announced he plans to 'invest' $200 million in building an aluminum plant McConnell's state (Kentucky) www.cnn.com/2019/04/15/business/rusal-russia-kentucky-aluminum-mill/index.html 2) Michael mentions that trump could prompt the U.S. to renege on its world debts. In fact, during a campaign interview, trump suggested as much. This should be no surprise, given that he has personally used bankruptcy SIX times as a means to pass the bad debt on to others. He even bragged that he came out well, while his creditors were the ones to absorb the losses. But if he caused the U.S. to do so, the dollar would no longer be the world's reserve currency, no country would continue to buy U.S. treasuries. The consequences would be devastating. www.nytimes.com/2016/05/07/us/politics/donald-trumps-idea-to-cut-national-debt-get-creditors-to-accept-less.html www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2016/live-updates/general-election/real-time-fact-checking-and-analysis-of-the-first-presidential-debate/fact-check-has-trump-declared-bankruptcy-four-or-six-times/?noredirect=on&.51a4a4f20621

I’m a huge Michael Lewis fan but I was shocked to see how confused he was about why 40% of Americans voted for Trump. I recommend watching The Final Year - the documentary outlining Obama’s last year in office and the legacy hopes of his inner circle. They are so focused on international issues - Syria, human rights, climate change - they barely mention their legacy concerning America or her people. The Obama team was full of great minds tackling what are objectively the ‘bigger’ issues. A war in Syria may be a more pressing concern than an American who has lost his job. But it is Americans that vote and they were ignored and forgotten. So they voted for someone promising to put them first.

Re his 'confusion': Just before 16 minutes in, he starts to set it out. Perhaps you are so resistant to the message, you don't see how profound it is. These are some of the people who keep you and your loved ones safe. They get no public attention unless they screw up (if they don't screw up they get a tick, no more) and, as he says, they could earn far more in the private sector, but they don't because they care about you. This should be a debate about what makes for good government, not about whether or not we need government at all.

Samuel Richards This is wrong view...Obama Administration passed the Affordable Care Act against all odds, Dealt successfully with the economic crash brought on by the despicable war mongering neo-cons during the Bush Administration, strongly addressed immigration policies. The republican propaganda machine did him in along with the rabble rousing of terrified racists. The republicans are now the enemies of the people with Fox News, OAN, and all the weird crazies on info wars, Breitbart, and other far right wingers like Limbaugh. so called news - but actually propaganda outlets - touting The sleazy Trump Administration 24/7. Too much to tell here and now but the Republicans would not even give Obamas’ pick for supreme court a hearing and then rammed through their own far right picks. On and on and on. A bunch of elitist radicals doing the bidding of their donors. Tax cut fir the rich? gift to those same aggrieved libertarians. I just saw some of them on the news today trying to pretend they are moderates. Mark my words if we don’t manage to defeat these self interested lackeys we are in very dire straights.
