It reminds me of the "Only Fools" episode where Del and Rodney think they've killed their friend's canary so they go the pet shop and replace it. The friend comes back and tells them it was already dead before she left.

I’m sure if he played the devil they would have bought it in a second. Obviously he was a threat to Hollywood because his work had heart and soul, something they gotta look up in the dictionary.
