Only MJ would deliver such a beautiful and truthful poem , in song. He was so talented....I know everyone is saying this, but, "There will never be another artist that embodied what he gave, He was original thru and thru. He will forever be King, not just of Pop, he was/is so much bigger that that!

The voice of an angel. When I see some of the Michael Jackson haters on this video I thank God that Michael is not around anymore to hear that shit. He really was too good for this world. Now he is gone and there will NEVER be another like him I promise you that.

Lyrics of this song...that apply to Michael so perfectly... You were there, before we came. You took the hurt, you took the shame. They built the walls to block your way. You beat them down. You won the day. It wasn't right, it wasn't fair. You taught them all. You made them care. Yes, you were there, and thanks to you There's now a door we all walk through. And we are here, for all to see -- To be the best that we can be. Yes, I am here.... Because you were there. THANKS TO YOU MICHAEL!

Michael used to go over to Sammy's house early in his career to borrow tapes of Sammy's concerts. He studied them and took what he could. His stance in the spotlight with one hand up and one hip out is SAMMY....Mr. Bojangles. He meant what he says in this song. Sammy opened ALOT of doors and was 'there' first. Before MJ, before James Brown, before Jackie Wilson....there was Sammy Davis, Jr.. My idol for 50 years! God bless them both.

wow this is got me in tears. Michael sang a true song. Sammy ah Mr. DAVIS paved a road for many of us. In the entertainment and in history period. For a long time people called him names and said he wasn't for the black race, but those were simple minded people who didn't see the MAN. Mr. Davis was black and for his people how he lived his personal life was not for us to ponder, he was a man of many talents who gave us history and memories. R.I.P.

In an era where so many like Sammy Davis had to deal with prejudice, whether in showbiz or not, it's thanks to the many like him who came through it to pave the way for black artists to be accepted. Sad reflection on society that many wouldn't accept them. MJ's tribute is heartwarming, sincere and truly deserved. No one will ever replace MJ

Such a moving performance by Michael to another great man Sammy Davis Jnr. MJ lived long enough to see the downward spiral the music industry was heading in..when asked to comment on modern music, he always remained humble and never insulted...he always said "Music is music" but deep down, you can tell that he was hiding the truth, and that music truly died. Music Left this world when MJ died, and truly packed its bags for another planet when Whitney Houston died. Sammy, Fred Astaire, James Brown..all of these great people :( RIP LEGENDS.

It's almost eerie how even though the words that Michael came up with in this song to describe Mr. Davis, are definitely accurate, they now have a dual meaning for him as well. Sammy & Michael's success was something they fought for with the talent they were blessed with, nobody handed it to them. I mean these two were not called the greatest entertainers ever for no reason.

I'm reading a book by Redd Foxx who gives a history of the minstrel shows that Sammy Davis, Jr. sings about in the song, Mr. Bojangles. Michael's song not only pays tribute to Sammy, who watched, through personal experience, those many, many minstrel performers who are today unheard of and lost in history. Sammy saw them erased from time, believing he would be too. Michael's song says, "No, I'll remember you because I remember the others. If I am remembered, you will be too."

This is why I like mike because he respected the talents before him. He always gave honor to Sammy, Ray C.,and James Brown through his short life on Earth. Panthere1308. I must say that michael and sammy are equally the best entertainers that ever lived. We all saw the artistry that michael has done, yet sammy did it all: sing, dance, and acted on tv, broadway, movies, and live concerts around the world being called the "n-word" by his enemies and being called "colored" by his friends. nice video.
