Great video and I agree that Dirty Diana is about Diana Ross. It’s my favorite song of all time. I think one of the most telling verses is the first one: You’ll never make me stay/ so take your weight off of me/ I know you’re every move/ why don’t you just let me be/ I’ve been here times before/ but I was too blind to see/ that you seduce every man/ this time you won’t seduce me/ Re-listening to the song and watching the music video with thoughts of it being all about Diana Ross helped me understand the vibes that were created. The way MJ screams her name at certain parts. The dark overdriven guitar melodies. Man, a true ballad of emotion where MJ shared his deep passion with the sounds/vocals on the track, and the performance on the music video. It gives me chills!

Don’t be so naïve. Michael Jackson was human and had a dark side. Look what he did to Eminem after he did that awful video about Michael I think it’s possible. He did use the name Diana after she hurt him so bad by making him believe she could be his lover. There is a telephone conversation where is he’s talking to his friend Greta and mentions how it took him a very long time to get over Diana Ross and he doesn’t sound happy about it.

Stephanie Mills will say today that she respects and admire Diana, but it was not like that in the late 70s. It’s one of those stories that gets lost in time. Stephanie won at the time a record 6x at the Apollo. She also starred in the Broadway version of the Wiz. Berry Gordy signs her to Motown, hoping she would be a breakthrough artist, and be the star of the movie version of the Wiz. Diana Ross felt threatened and immediately disliked Stephanie, but was cordial to her. Diana played politics and eventually got the role in the Wiz. Stephanie was upset, but accepted it. This was around the time that Stephanie and Michael was dating. Diana didn’t like that either, because she knew Michael liked her too. So rumors has it, Diana started seeing Michael behind Stephanie’s back. It’s also alleged that MJ lost his virginity to Diana. Mike dumped Steph, and started chasing Diana. Unfortunately, not too long after, Diana dumped Michael due to their age difference and started talking to Gene Simmons. In spite of this, Mike and Diana would still see each other off and on until she got married the second time. That’s when he wrote Dirty Diana. Btw, great video. It’s one of the best I’ve seen on the subject.

@@SincerlixLes Things line up. I wouldn't be surprised if after this song came out, she felt a type of way but Diana’s never going to admit to it. She’s not that kind of girl. She’ll act like she’s above it all. Denying the seriousness of everything. Next thing you know Michael writes Remember the Time, which Jermaine fully says is about Diana in his book. As a fan I see Diane sitting in his lap in that Blonde wig in like 1996 ’Michael looking good and comfy, next I hear is Break of Dawn recorded around 1999 and it feels like Rock With You for Grown Folks/Remember the Time Part Deux. He loves morning birds and walking in the park. I see ya Mike. 😎👀😅

I always wonder how the MJ, Diana and Gene love triangle went. It seems as if Her and MJ took a break or what not because she was dating Ryan O’Neal. It seems as if they broke up for a little while and she did her thing with Ryan and gene & when gene came into the picture MJ somehow got sucked back into the equation which was his biggest mistake.

@@KaykayWilliAm I believe by 1984, Mike was strictly with Diana. Some people criticize Diana for leaving Mike and marrying Naess, but I think outside forces (MJ’s parents, Diana’s peers, media) forced them to break-up.

So he allegedly was dating Stephanie Mills while filming The Wiz, maybe he reached back for that experience when thinking about his baby waiting at home

I also believe that Michael loved Diana Ross, and that she was his first love. The fact that she turned him down breaks my heart. Its so sad that there were (and still are) millions of women all round the world who loved (and still love) Michael , but every time he fell in love (Diana, Brooke Shields, Lisa-Marie), the relationships did not work out... I may be wrong, but I think the fact that Diana turned him down might be the reason why Michael started to change his face hoping to become more attractive for Diana and then for Brooke, the fact that they turned him down only added to his insecurities about his appearance, probably he thought he wasnt attractive enough for them... But its just my guess. Definitely, he was hurt both by Diana and Brooke.

When he & Madonna made an appearance at the ''91/'92 Oscars?, at the after party, there was none other than DR & she was sitting on his lap! Yes, Diana Ross was not a good woman. She slept with everyone, married or not there’s even a mention in the biography that she may have slept with Michael’s father. I think it’s disgusting how she led him on and I think it’s awful for her to even have thought maybe to be with this person that she essentially babysat for as a child However, I don’t think that song has anything to do with her. Since Michael was a musical genius, I’m sure it was just a matter of cadence.

Respectfully, I do NOT believe the context of the song "Dirty Diana" has anything to do with Diana Ross. Yes, using the name Diana in the title does conjur up those beliefs heavily; I get it. Still, no matter how angry or dissatisfied with her he may have been, he had too much respect & admiration for her to put her on front street like that. Michael was public savvy & there is NO WAY he would've been that blatant to have her name in the title & the contents of the song be about her. He was a lot more discreet about his personal dealings than that. A few MJ songs i do believe were inspired by Diana though are "Who Is It", "Blue Gangsta", "Can't Let Her Get Away".

I find it quite interesting how you ridiculously present YOUR opinion as some sort of universal "obvious" though 😂. Also, I'm interested to know how you formed an opinion of "obvious"(in regards to "Dirty Diana" being about Diana Ross)while listening to the actual lyrics of the song 🤔? Now in regards to "Remember The Time", I believed at one time that song was most likely about Diana too. As I continued to hear the song & got more into dissecting the song in it's entirety, one specific line in that song convinced me it wasn't about Diana Ross. The line is "Do you remember when we fell in love, we were YOUNG & INNOCENT then". There was never really a time Michael thought of Diana as young(she's 14 years older) & he damn sure never viewed her as innocent. With that said, only 3 young ladies that we heard about, who were associated with MJ, would be more of an inspiration for that song. Tatum O'Neal, Janelle "Penny" Commissiong(the first Black Miss Universe 1977), or Stephanie Mills all are legitimate possibilities of being the subject of that song.

I’ve done a lot of research about Michael Jackson and clearly Brooke shields in several interviews nicely states that he was like a child and that is why she did not accept his marriage proposal.
