I replied to it a while back (you need to check your messages folder as KZread doesn't give out notifications for message) regarding the multitracks. It's a bit complex though since the tracks go through several different project files on both FL studio and Sony Vegas. The new version won't differ too much overall. The synth had to be removed because it has a wrong harmonic note compared to live, and in the live one it sounds mostly like choir rather than synth at that point. Here the progress so far. I don't blame you for the way this turned out, the composition is a win, but the soundfont is just, balls. Understand that I'm not attacking YOU for that, I'm just saying that it's really unfortunate there couldn't have been more, not even so much accurate, but just lively sounding instruments in the editing program you used. They make the whole song sound so stiff, it's like there's no reverb or a real live feeling coming from the song, it almost sounds like a more muted version of a Dangerous performance, but that's the thing, you got the BPM, arrangement of the instruments, not to mention the ad libs in there successfully. Might I suggest if you could put the original midi file for this in the description? I've been able to tweak some instruments in Mixcraft before and got some pretty convincing synths and leads, even with the poor default sound font in most of these music editing programs, I'm sure I might be able to sample some instruments from the actual history tour itself, and find ways to isolate them so they can be used to go hand in hand with your composition, but it's just a suggestion. Fine work you have here, all I'm saying is that it's a shame there weren't better sounding percussion and bass and whatnot, that would really bring the whole piece together.

Thanks for your constructive thoughts. I admit I am not an expert with music programs and there are many things I wish to work on. This was done using Sony Vegas and Magix Music Maker. Some things I didn't realize until after I uploaded this such as the bass being too "funky" without enough depth. With the exception of guitar and choir parts not in the studio version, most of the sounds came from the multitracks. The muted sound with lack of reverb was because I was aiming for a sound like some of the HIStory 1997 broadcast (Gothenburg, Copenhagen, Helsinki) and removed the reverb from the drum sample (from a karaoke multitrack). When I added a compressor plugin the sound was more like Manila 1996 (one of the most punchy and reverbed HWT sounds), but I thought that sound might be too overwhelming. However, according to people who went to concerts and amateur audio recordings, the actual sound was quite different, which I will need to further investigate.

yes, but even so some instruments are not properly panned. I tried following the studio version in terms of panning.

they sound tinny because they are extracted, there's no good way around it.. I chose Brunei since his voice had a bit of grit and his live vocals were short but good.

of course since there's no multitrack to a live performance but the concert itself isnt in high quality for example the Kuala Lumpur one was pretty great in terms of vocals and quality

when extracting the vocals there will always be some kind of quality loss, unless I have the exact instrumental that matches up. Brunei's vocals are quite clear but knocking them out means that quality is lost. Same applies for other performances. Also, he doesn't sing live as early in Kuala Lumpur and most of the earlier 1996 as he does in the later concerts like Brunei and Manila (where he does the nah-no-no live) and the 1997 concerts (where he starts singing the chorus live)

I'm still considering making some changes. Personally I like to have a bit more guitar rather than it be barely heard like in some of the HWT concerts. The guitar consists of two different parts (the real guitar by David Williams and a MIDI part for the parts not in studio version) they both have some amp filters added to try and make them sound more similar but it was pretty hard

nope, it runs a bit faster than concert footage. I plan on making a version matching up to Brunei but the instrumentation won't be the same.

Which ones? I sent you the Ho! from Auckland. In my opinion it is better than the Copenhagen one I used in the instrumental.
