His vocal teacher admitted that MJ had a deep baritone voice. He felt better (safer if you ask me) when he was talking/singing in a higher voice. Regardless, he has probably the most controlled voice I've ever heard and a 4 octaves range. Phenomenon!

@@NA-dn7ty no I know the whole schpeel of "Michael faked his voice and he had a natural deep voice and that he had good range" but it is literally impossible to have the perfect -1 pitch while singing. It's obviously pitched down, if you do a +1 pitch on this song it sounds normal.

When I told my coworkers this was his real voice they looked at me like I was crazy. Called me a liar and said I was trolling them. But I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who knows what his real voice sounds like.

I am so digging this! His "normal" voice is just as amazing as the one we're used to. I wish he would have sang like this more

This was confirmed by so many people that knew him personally. Quincy Jones, Liza Minnelli, Spike Lee, etc... just to name a few have said this.

When you pitch vocals up or down they leave audible artefacts as you're pitching every single harmonic, which isn't how the human voice operates when singing lower. The artefacts from such a process are present in this song.

I was a kid in middle school when this album came out. We all had this album on in the computer class. Many thought it was lit. I was one of them. The album didn't get the promotion it needed. His previous work was also so solid we over looked that he changed a lot since Off The Wall and Thriller. He left too soon and many secrets go with him. That was the magic of MJ

This is indeed Michael's original voice, if u listen carefully u would understand it's not very hard to recognise the playfulness in his voice that he always does in high pitched songs. I'm so in love with this voice god

Similar to the Don Mclean's song "American Pie", as the lyrics said "The day the music died". Maybe someone should make a part 2 for American Pie, coz we have lost so many wonderful singers throughout these years...

@@nikkom217 possibly but many people including his vocal coach have gone on record saying Michael had a natural baritone voice and would intentionally keep it high pitched, so it's just as likely pitched down as it is his actual voice or a mix of the two

He had a wide octave range but his voice was naturally soft spoken as he stated himself, this isn’t rocket science lol.
