On MOHs scale of hardness, 18k white gold is 2.8 while platinum is at least 4.5 making platinum much harder

I'm on for an Omega Silver Snoopy for the exact same reasons. If I don't get the call, no biggie. But, in a couple years when I would reasonably get the call, it'll time well with my "official" beating cancer. And I cannot think of a better watch to celebrate with. If I don't get it, a sapphire sandwich moon watch is a hell of a consolation prize!

As a slightly older gentleman coming up 60 ,I find it near impossible for me to see the time on the Daytona without out glasses.My breitling b01 43mm is the chronograph I wear when I want to see the time.😂

The Mohs scale rates platinum as a harder metal than gold.

I used to work for a glass manufacturer; they use lots of platinum to handle molten glass. It’s notoriously malleable and had to go to fabricators all the time to get re-shaped. This was industrial platinum, with no alloys..

The smoke detector chirp is KILLING me. I don’t understand how people can ever ignore this.

You should make a story commercial of the history of the Daytona that shows emotion, could really help Rolex out selling them

I’ve heard something like that before. And it’s one of the reasons it’s hard to polish too, it essentially starts “melting” instead of polishing.

I’m with you. I wore a Daytona and at 40mm, with the bezel, the dial is too small for the complications. How could they stuff a date in there?

No date chronographs look the best. The only chronograph I like with date is the Sinn 144 STSA that's basically a Porsche design with a day date. To many companies jamming dates on chronographs that look terrible

Platinum is not softer than Gold, you can easily look that up. It is harder on the Mohs, Vickers and Brinell scales.

Yeah I think he just misunderstood that. He is right that Plat is less resistant to scratches, but plat is also more durable in bending and in wear over the time over the 18k gold.

Great video once again but would love to see more reviews on more affordable watches. Tudor was a great vid as well as oris in the past. Maybe some tags, tissot, Hamilton, mido, seiko levels. Thanks guys for the greats videos. Always hilarious.

The Daytona is a great watch, proportions are prefect in every way. I own a 116509 full white gold with silver dial. I didn't want a ceramic bezel (give me full gold). No date on the Daytona is right. I love wearing it, just an amazing watch. The weight reminds you that you have something special. The platinum one just magnificent.

I always felt like the right side of the Daytona was a bit too bulky and made it seem unbalanced as a whole. One thing are the crownguards on a chronograph, but add screw-down pushers and it all just becomes a bit much.

People want what everybody else wants. Thats the sad truth unfortunately, once this watch hype wave is gone, things will get back to normal. We forget that things were normal for over 100 years and only the ast 3 years have been insane in this market

@@mrjunk3203 yes. Many don’t realize how much wealth there is in the world; and new people getting rich all the time. Short of worldwide depression where we’re living without electricity, food, etc there will always be a long list of prospective R buyers.

The list length is directly proportional to how well you can charm your ad and convince them you will buy more in the future. Mine actually did divulge that they DONT want to sell to flippers so long standing history is best.

I did get to hold onto one at an AD awhile ago before the hype. Just sitting there in the case. It was very tough!

It’s insecurity. Talking about it all the time is part of the initial phase of success. Once you accumulate tons of it you stop talking about it and it just becomes a part of your circumstances and you don’t feel the need to advertise it. In fact, you downplay it

The Daytona is gorgeous. But theres so many other comparable pieces for a far more fair price. Rolex quality and craftsmanship is top notch but its not unrivaled.

I used to really aspire to own a Rolex until I realized just how much you pay for a crown logo on your watch.....so many better options for price and on the used market you can get banger watches for 60% off retail. What are people doing??!?!!? You can't even wear a Rolex without getting robbed and muck faced by a robber

Best ever? That's a bit much. The blue is nice. Platinum is cool I guess, really just a flex it doesn't offer much in looks or practicality. The brown kills it though, IMO. Such a weird clash with that blue, and not in a fun contrast-y way to me. Bezel and sub dial rings should be black, silver, or darker blue... no doubt.

Platinum has a distinct advantage over gold. Gold will wear or scratch off. Platinum never wears off or scratches off. Platinum simply moves around retaining the original precious metal. Platinum will eventually climb again as it is far rarer then gold.

Agree this is one of the best Daytonas, but there are soooooo many other watches I would buy before it. Not even the best chronograph imo either. Im good with my ALS and Zeniths

Nice move throwing your name on a Daytona -HOWEVER, Platinum is actually HARDER and more dense than gold - in fact, so much harder and more difficult to mill, that making platinum watches require completely different tools, milling platforms and processes.

I just had a nightmare, something I haven't experienced in so long, I awoke and was just struck about it. I know it's not a big deal, but it still made me feel terrible and uncomfortable. @@WestCoastAce27 Yeah... No. That was all my fault that I fell for it. I feel the Tudor Black Bay Chrono is beautiful as well. I am not too sure though. I bought Black Bay GMT hoping it would subside my desire for Pepsi .....but no. It did not scratch the itch. I have spoken to Tudor about Black Bay Chrono in White. Hopefully it is my genuine liking for this watch and not my alternative to Daytona. I dont see these two in same light like I did with the GMTs, so hopefully, I will come to love BB Chrono as I do now and not regret it like BB GMT.
