Michale is an incredible guy. We opened for him in flagstaff, Az. We talked for a long while, I’ve seen him and we opened for him many times. He’s always been amazing. I told him I worked for special needs kids and he was impressed, so impressed he gave me his personal number and email. I never thought my hugest punk inspiration would do that

I met Michale myself. His music has had such a positive impact on my life, that I told him briefly how he affected me and how he was sort of there for me. Whether it was life, work, the gym. I didn’t ask, but he signed an album I bought and gave me a poster and signed that as well. We talked a ton but the one thing I vividly remember him saying “at the end of the day, I’m just Michale. It still amazes me that I get to meet amazing people like yourself and positively impact. What you said made my night and I get to heal knowing what I do creates change.” Edit: he also came out after the show to the merch table to meet everyone. Was not a planned meet and greet. Which is a moment I’ll remember forever.

What saddens me is that I read an interview of Doyle from some years ago where he says that looking back at the Graves era, listening back those two albums, he "realized" they were shit, that the music they wrote without Danzig was shit. I was dissapointed, I love the Graves era albums, and to know that Doyle thinks those albums were absolute garbage...it just let me down, man

The crazy thing about Doyle making statements like this, is.... His currently music is Juvenile and quite frankly, it's unlistenable. The Misfits with Graves at the helm was Quality music. Not to mention, Graves wrote, pretty much all of it.

I agree with you guys. The interview I read (I will post a link below) is from 2013, I don't know if he still thinks this way he did think it. It makes me sad. rocknightmare.com/2013/09/30/interview-with-ex-misfits-guitarist-doyle-wolfgang-von-frankenstein/ "Dante: How about a Michael Graves era reunion? Doyle: No, not really. I would not want to revisit those songs. I was listening to those songs not to long ago. I was at a signing with Dr. Chud, and after doing what I’m doing now, I looked at Dr. Chud and said “this shit sucks man.” There were some songs I don’t remember ever hearing in my life."

Bless Graves heart and his music if it wasn’t Graves era misfits then I wouldn’t look into “real punk”. Thank you Eric for giving us these interviews and hope to see more from you and Graves.

Im an old fan of the original Misfits, but I loved the Graves albums. He brought the band back from the oblivion they were in after Glen left. It's interesting to note that the band hasn't released anything good since he left. Cornball 50's covers? They should give up on trying to deal with Glen nd get Graves back and become a functioning productive band again.

I've genuine respect for this man. Because he has balls and he has control over his own mind. This is what you hope to share with your family members and your real friends. It just isn't all that common sadly. You can try to help others, but at the end of the day when 'trying' is a lost cause, you have to continue to better yourself, and just hang on to the others that have been taken. But you may spend a lifetime trying to get your loved ones to snap out of the fcking madness and still fail. You have to make the best of you being able to have control your own mind and make others feel positive and comfortable. That is the conclusion I've come to. You will wreck yourself trying to force others to see how things really are. It is sad, because people literally kill themselves due to believing lies which creates unnecessary stress, which kills quicker and leaves people on deadly meds in order to live.

It seems more that he is mentally going through struggles. Hearing voices, and wanting to hang himself. We all hear voices and get depressed. The fact that Jerry and Doyle were driving him this nuts though is puzzling. Maybe too much pressure on him to be the singer? How can he say he was not in the band though, and was not getting paid? That's wild about the hanging visions. Never heard that story before. Famous monsters was a solid album. I know in some interviews it was either Doyle or Jerry saying g they were frustrated with Graves because he'd forget the words on stage sometimes, or got drunk. So what? Graves was the Hagar to Van Halen. I really think he was not treated with enough respect as the new singer. Or maybe he's too sensitive, who knows. Can you imagine reading he hanged himself? Ot would have put the band on the map like Pantera or Metallica probably. But then he says there was money, girls, tours? Agreed 9/11 screwed up the country. Glad Graves is able to reflect well. I can relate to people fighting when you're making some good magic. I think 9/11 was an inside job.

I kind of feel the same way when I got out of college and started my career. Having people treat you like crap for no reason is heartbreaking. I like what he said about people disagreeing. I think he is speaking of liberals completely. They are so intolerant. I have a feeling it was a combination of thi gs with him leaving the band. Lots of pressure on him to outdo Danzig and carry the band, yet he was either treated, or felt like it was not his band despite 2 great albums. You will hear different sides from Jerry and Doyle on it, but on stage I could see the slight hostility towards Graves, but maybe 9/11 shook him up, and he's either way too sensitive, or did not care for the rock star scene. Who knows. The man is very insightful and a deep thinker.

Man... sometimes, as fans, people can really see what would be the best move for bands, but when there are deeper problems between the members, it sucks for us and it’s bad for them. Bands ruin their careers over petty BS. Misfits when Graves was kicked out Mudvayne with whatever happened... The White Stripes when they split up Killssitch Engage when Howard left Gallows when Frank left Pantera with Phil and Dimebag’s fight As I Lay Dying when Tim went to Prison Blink 182 when Tom left It happens all the time. Good bands destroyed over stupid shit. And who suffers? The fans.

I really didn't like his albums , but i did see him play live in atlanta on tour with GWAR , it was a crazy concert. I perfer the danzig era honestly but graves seems to be a pretty good and humble dude in this interview.

I wish Mike had been able to stick it out as I loved his era of the band and they were a lot of fun to see live!. Once Graves, Doyle and Chud left I lost all interest in anything Jerry was doing!.

I wanted to hate Devil’s Rain.. But I just can’t. It’s actually chock-full of great tunes. Jerry may have treated graves like shit, along with Doyle, but I still have a certain appreciation for him for soldiering on with that band.
