@@DarwinRojjo Yes. Give Me Up became a smash hit in Japan in 1986 and one of the most famous Eurobeat tunes in the 1980s of Japan. Most of the comments here in Japanese are by people who danced with this tune in Discos in Japan at that time or those who feel the nostalgia about the bubble economy of that time in Japan. But interestingly, this tune has been loved also by younger generations till now. I believe the atmosphere of Italo Discos has a good fit for the heart of the Japanese. Here is one evidence. Last year Michael Fortunati came to Japan and had an event named "Bon Disco". t.co/7bXC6EqvCF "Bon Dance" is a Japanese traditional culture in the summertime and the Bon Disco event was a try for a fusion of Eurobeat and Bon dance after more than 30 years of the smash hit of "Give Me Up". Thanks for commenting. Like you, there are many songs that have somehow accompanied good and bad times in my life. The good thing is that, paradoxically, bad moments over time become that experience that thickens our skin, and helps us move forward.
Is it the first time in your life Or is it just another one-night stand Do you wanna make a fool of me Just like you do it to all those other guys Now I'm leading your life on my own on these days And I don't want to mess with no woman Get me out on your skin No, that's hard, I can see But you're back to save your love, but you can't Give me up Oh, give me up Oh, give me up Oh, give me up Oh, woah You got this on your mind For love isn't sin, I just don't have no time I'm telling you again and again You'd better stop this playing on my mind Take an intermit stand 'cause you don't have a clue Now I'm reading off time before you Shout it out on the roof as you must understand I got somebody else on my mind Give me up Oh, give me up Oh, give me up Oh, give me up Oh, give me up Oh, give me up Oh, give me up Oh, give me up Oh, woah

It's "I heard a rumor" by Bananarama, like almost verbatim. Hilarious part is that both Fortunati and Bananarama deny getting influenced by the other song yet the chord progressions are identical. Even the little side melody in the upper instrumental voices, [D-C#-A] [D-C#-A] (x2) up to E. That precise countermelody is identical in both songs. Both were written and published in 1987, by the way, so you cannot simply blame the newer artist in this case. Ahhh the 80s. Shrouded in musical mystery 🔥

@@bsways you use the same 3 best shirts for work because they're what you look best in, probably. Even if your grossly overblown hyperbole were true, those 3 chords would still be popular in the hands of a masterful composer. Here's the thing, though, it's not true. Pop music uses a greater variety of harmonies than you probably are willing to listen to, I'm curious how you can make that comment and then listen to Inside Out by Eve 6, or Black Velvet by Alannah Myles, or Blackhole Sun by Soundgarden. "All pop music is the same 3 chords." Most progressions have 4 chords anyway and I can name at least 4 off the top of my head that are different sounding and also used to wide degree.
