Tony will be back unless he calls it quits but this could definitely diminish his confidence coming into another fight after this and make him very cautious due to the fear of getting knocked out . It’s unfortunate. I like both men I didn’t pick sides coming into this I cheered for both . When the fight was made I was angry at Dana I’m like what you don’t like Tony or something ?? He was asleep longer than I've ever seen anyone sleep from a KO, and I have been watching the UFC and MMA since 1998/99. His eyes really told the story after the fight. He had no idea whatsoever where he was or what the hell was going on. Poor guy. I hate the sport sometimes. If they'd have left him there he'd have been out for hours, probably. He will have lasting effects from that shot, especially considering he already has issues with schizophrenia and paranoia, etcetera. The way people roared with cheers when he got KOd was disgusting. The LW division is ridiculous how talent rich it is at the top.. It's crazy who Charles has beat, maybe had to face the most competition out of any champ in any divison. He beat Chandler Porier Ferguson & now Gaethje as well, all BACK TO BACK & all at their peak . Wtf Feels like on any given day these at the top can beat each other. that's how close the competition is. but charles has that bit extra with such insane ground game , tho has come close to being beaten so it's still close between them even with him. & it's interesting out of all of them Tony is the only one he couldn't finish. actually in Charles last 10 wins Tony is the only one he couldn't finish. Justin couldn't with 500 punches either. That's how much power the front kick holds coming up from nowhere, even in slow motion the snap back looked regular speed. it's kind of badass that thats the thing it took to finally take him out

The way Tony was in R1, he couldn't be TKO'd or beaten on scorecards, he turned Chandler into a wrestler because Chandler had no response to his striking. This was the BEST way to lose if Tony had to lose that night, however unfortunate. By a freak knockout that would put Francis to sleep. Nobody in the world imagined that would happen. But tony still improved a lot from before, and that's all most people wanted to see.

I’m happy you mentioned Chandler’s backflips during Tony being out COLD. That upset me big time. Nearly EVERY time I’ve seen a cold knockout like that, I’ve seen SOME type of respect given from the fighter to his opponent’s safety. Taking a knee, going to check on them…SOMETHING! To literally show ZERO concern for your knocked out opponent’s well being and think of NOTHING other than showboating…is extremely telling (in my opinion) of just who Chandler TRULY is…not who he’s well spoken enough to pretend to be. It’s THOSE moments when people show their true colors. I’m one of the very few people who find his “good guy” persona to be extremely phony. You can't train reaction time at 38+ years old in the LW division and it is CLEAR that Tony has lost it. Do you really want to see a BJ Penn or Chuck Liddell type slide because that is 100% in his future if he keeps fighting. MMA is a young man's game and LW is the end of even younger man's game. The combination and crossover between speed and technique and raw power. I certainly don't want to see him get starched 3 or 4 more times because Ferguson fans keep egging him on and telling him he's still got it because he looked decent for 5 minutes before getting Space-X'd to the damn shadow realm...

This take on Tony - who looked fantastic compared to his recent losses - was super necessary & I love it! You the man, Chael!

I feel so bad for Tony. He was going to win that fight. So sad. But it is what it is. I hope he is ok.

I might be wrong, but i really felt that this Tony Ferguson version, was in fact the old Tony Ferguson prime version. He was doing what he always used to do. That front kick could knock the fuck out of any other lightweight or even welterweight fighter, so i won't blame Tony's performance because of that KO. It doesn't matter how great or durable your chin is, the element of surprise can catch any fighter in this world out of their guard easily, and fuck them up. I still hope to see Tony fighting in the UFC. Definitely he still have a couple of fights left in his tank.

tony 1st round was amazing if chandler says that he was seeing double vision for the first time it means something, man that leg kick was insane tho

My first thought after that kick was “Holy fuck, I got that weird feeling that Tony is dead.” He fell so awkwardly on his head I thought he broke his neck on impact. I am so happy it did not end up being like that. Tony looked mighty clean before that kick.

I don’t think Tony winning a round justifies anything. He got knocked out stiff. It will unfortunately only get worse from here

That was one of the most insane and shocking KO’s I’ve ever seen, no person to ever live could have taken that shot and not gone out.
