Just Beautiful WOW Michael

I feel like the lack of high notes added to his performance. He always seems to want to make it sadder than other actors do...they're always focused on the anger in "Gethsemane." Michael's just wonderful.

This is definitely the best version of Gethsemene I've ever heard! Michael has vocal perfection & the emotion. He doesn't show off with those unneccessary falsetto notes like others I've heard.

Limited range?? ya gotta be kidding me! His vocal quality and control are incredible, not to mention the emotion he puts into it. He is a FABULOUS performer!! My favorite performer!!

So powerful, the music, the words, the expression of fear and pain. What a fabulous voice this man has, a true gift. Love Michael Ball.

I think the most remarkable thing about Michael Ball -- besides the high quality of his voice -- is the way he seems to get so intensely involved in his performances. Even on a concert stage one always gets a strong sense of the character and his emotions. A great singing actor.

It's easy to dismiss Ball's work as populist - but this performance of "Gethsemane" belies all those detractors - JUST LISTEN !!! Stunning talent. Period.

Two incredible performances ! So passionate and emotional. Michael sings with his whole heart and soul. The video shows how his facial expressions and hand gestures add to the intensity of the words and music. Superbly done by a young, immensely talented Michael Ball.

Most talented man on this earth. Totally awesome!

Michael is an entertainer, as well as a “classical baritone” vocalist, in high demand for musicals by the best producers, this was a 1999 special by PBS. At that date, he had won the most popular artist, in Britain for 21 years!!! He has performed all over the world in concerts as well as musicals. Michael has his own style filled with emotion, listen to his The way we were/The rose in this concert- Perfection! He Is still, in 2018, performing. He is simply the BEST! He also had his own TV Show, does benefit concerts for charity, A Gentleman with a big heart....so from Canada, thank you, Michael, for everything.

"Prepare Ye the Way" is wonderful -- glorious tone, and he seems to "light up" when he sings it. For "Gethsemene" I prefer Michael Crawford's renditions, but that's just a matter of personal taste...Oh yes, and regarding Gulfporter's comment below, how on earth was Michael Ball's introduction "self-indulgent"? He was simply recalling an incident from his career. He wasn't bragging or acting obnoxious; on the contrary, he comes across as earnest, soft-spoken, and humble.

The only disappointing thing about this is that he doesn't do any of the crazy falsetto riffing that most other performers do. But that's a small price to pay for the rest of this. He is incredible.

That's.... pretty much it. "Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord".

It does not get much betther than this.

It's generally not that long. It's only supposed to be a prelude to the coming of Christ. There are also typically more vocal melodies/harmonies going on.

voice is great, but I cannot imagine Jesus singing like this...Nowhere does the Bible say that He questions God like that "I have to see...what will be my reward!" He was not doing it for any kind of reward! He did it out of Love.
