    I don't get why everyone here is trashing this guy. He took Led Zep songs and did his own spin on them. If you'd rather listen to the original, listen to the original.

    The 77 dislikes are guitarists from the 90's. Lol. Love Michael Batio's never say die attitude. A saying "go hard or go home," comes to mind. BTW for those of you that don't know, Michael is left handed but plays a right handed guitar. Amazing.

    How does someone get this good, Wow this guy is smokin" that guitar, I've seen lots of Michael's videos and he plays flawlessly, knows the guitar inside and out, plays with so much conviction, he really is so underrated as a guitarist but he is really great, I love watching him play he looks like he is having a great time...and to all the people that gave this a thumbs down, Jealousy is a Ugly Thing, get over yourself, you'll never play 1/4 as good.

    90's had some awesome music but the guitar was more grunge sounding and it worked for that style. Nirvana was awesome and pearl jam, etc. it fit the situation. 70's guitar was the most creative guitar era. well and vocals too but 90's had some good tunes too! Nice playin but the point of the music wasn't just guitar. It was a blend for creative vocals too! The composing back then was way way better than it is now!

    If you want REAL composing, check out my channel. Look at my videos. The Song "Goin' To Seattle" is a very great example of good composing. It's not just insane playing. Rather, it is music that is put together right. I play all of the instruments with "special" emphasis on the guitar. Right now I have 5 singles in stores: 1. It's Just Cool > A modern approach to the beatnik style jazz bringing it to date and combining it with funk and rock. 2.Sex Drive > a REAL vocal Olympics Song. 3. Love Emotions And Sex Potions> More emphasis on vocals. 4.Goin' To Seattle > vocal and acoustic sound that is unique and modern + 90's combo. 5 Just Like Me > emo modern rock sound. 6. I Wish > A fantasy rock ballad! And I don't just play guitar. I compose real music with the awesome guitar and vocals combined!

  • @guitarttimman

    @guitarttimman

    I like some 80's, but nothing, and I do mean nothing, beats the music of the 70's. The 80's brought in too much flash and glamour; whereas, the 70's had bands that were more heard driving and creative with a rough hippie sound. And, the thing about technical ability is this: Yeah, it takes talent to play in a highly technical style, but, when it comes to a rock band that produces catchy songs and work as a unit to achieve that goal, I think I'll choose the latter. Who cares who can out blast the other one? I'm into music for enjoyment and I want to hear creative singers and song writing. Let's say, perhaps, like Jimmy Page, especially in the early years of Led Zeppelin, well, from '68 up to '76, was his BEST guitar playing, and, during that time, Jimmy more than proved that he had the technical skills to do just about anything he wanted to with his guitar, but that wasn't the only goal. Rather, he wanted to have a phenomenal BAND unit that had a UNIQUE and catchy collection of hits that everyone, or at least everyone who's cool, can relate to and love. And I do. I like Michael's style of playing and think he's one of the best guitarists ever, but if I had to choose between seeing him or seeing an older 70's rock band, let's say, Deep Purple, I'd go to the Deep Purple show because I like bands with vocalists and that work in unison instead of just spot lighting one person all of the time. When I go to a concert, I WANT TO BE ENTERTAINED!

    Just to preface: I love MAB, he's a wonderful virtuoso and I can never dislike him as a player, nor am I downvoting the video. That being said, people who dig on the 90's as if it was a terrible time for music, or for rock, or for metal are very close-minded. The 90's had so many diverse sounds emerging at the time, grunge, indie, alternative, and post-rock started to see more popularity and for metal you had the burgeoning black metal scene, the ever-prosperous death metal scene, and the groove metal takeover with Pantera and Sepultura. And then the emergence of Pop-Punk and popularity of bands like Green Day. Let's not forget industrial rock/metal with NIN and Marilyn Manson. And also, Led Zeppelin is not a heavy metal band. They are a great and incredibly influential rock and roll band from the late sixties and seventies, but heavy metal they are not. Don't even really get how you can compare that.

    I think a genius like MAB paying tribute to the great Led Zepplin is fine. His expression of Page's work is more complex that the original for sure, but if you listen the key Zep riffs, MAB totally nails them - the feeling, power and the original passion of Page's hooks are right there. MAB just thinks five times faster than most mortals and he likes to flaunt that.

But I respect the simple music just as much as the complex music, but in a way I must admit, I do dislike the popular simple music nowadays, as it is... but then there some simple stuff that I really do enjoy, idk, ears are weird. I'm more a musician than a guitarist, but I can still understand the love for technique ppl have.

    Hey Man, I totally agree with you. Jimmy Page and Zeppelin is the reason I became a guitarist 36 years ago. Yes MAB has technical skills but to me(IMHO) this just sounded like "look how fast I can play" over semi-sounding Zeppelin backing tracks! Where's the homage? Page played with passion, soul and always gave the song just what it needed...nothing more, nothing less. Zeppelin is still the #1 requested band on FM radio and MAB is what? Peace.

    Yes 90s guitarists do that... but 90s rock is awesome. STP, AIC, Rage against the machine, Nirvana All awesome bands really good shit. 90s guitar work is just awesome really drowns you in the songs. All music from the last century are true masterpieces. Music in today’s world... it ain’t fuckin music these fucks don’t have a clue what they are doing, they don’t even write their own songs. Back then it was all true talent. They wrote their songs and their instrumentals. They did all the work. That’s a real musician and true talent. 🤘🏼always will love the music from the last century. That’s music. Fuck this century we are in anyways it’s already going down.

    Is music a competition? I dare not to say the least. Music is sound, of which individuals who aren't deaf can hear, and choose to enjoy and create a meaningful attachment or passion to it. One can be more technically better than another on any instrument; however, it does not mean that the sound they are producing will affect people emotionally as much as the next playing slower/sloppier. With technical playing, most people are just impressed instead of actually feeling the music. Their choice.

    To be fair, there’s lots of guitarists that feel the same way. But you’re not wrong.

    While he still plays guitar, I'm still trying to think of anyone from the 90s who did anything memorable.

    I don't actually embrace anything. I just stated that plenty of grunge bands were heaps ahead of a run of the mill 80s hair bands. Bad music was definitely present on both of those accounts. But in general, grunge had more balls and feeling to me than a bunch of technical noodling, sweeping and tapping (often with an awful rice distortion multieffect mid scooped tone).

    Nirvana was a kick in the nuts of the music industry (since it was getting generic at the time). It was not what anyone expected. The thing with Nirvana is the attitude, the sarcasm, the lyrics, and such as, it is an art in its own sort that no one had ever heard before. Criticize the band's music about how simple it is and sloppy they play, but that's the thing, their attitude. Simplicity is the key to touch any audience, but complexity is only to touch other musicians/music-lovers emotionally.
