I think when Michael left they should have made Jim the manager again. The original premise of the show was what if a normal office had a crazy boss, but by the time the eighth season came around all the characters had grown so eccentric compared to the first two seasons, it could have been what if a normal boss had an eccentric office. Might not have worked but I think it would have been better to try something new instead of trying to capture the same dynamics with Andy instead of Michael.

@@heitorfreire2625 Yeah, I think the writing team just panic when Steve Carell left the series. And they already had the Jim as a co manager experience so they probably thought this would be the best route. But multiple things went wrong with it. One they force it too hard to create Andy character as the new “Michael Scott” when in reality that wasn’t his character. I could list all day what went wrong, but I think the fact the writing room should of thought this out slowly instead of rushing it and I think we could if had a better outcome. But can’t blame them, because trying to replace Steve was already gonna be a hard task in itself, no matter who you tried to be the next manager. I think Dwight would of been the best candidate, but they wanted to come to a full circle and finish his character development and end the series on a high note making him the manager in the end. But because of that, it lead to a dumpster fire heading into the last 2 seasons.

michael was a horrible mentor honestly. his immaturity and insecurity really showed here. michael's place in his office was very clear and established, although he was an absolute incompetent, it was obvious that david wallace had bigger plans for him, and someone would need to take care of scranton, and jim would be the obvious choice. michael just needed to help him familiarize himself with his new responsabilities or at least leave him alone, but he had to constanly nag and disregard anything jim tried to do. obviously jim couldnt be a great manager with someone like that hovering over all his decisions all the time. michael was to jim what he so hated about charles.

I can’t find a clip on KZread, but my fav part in their co-manager arc is actually right before Jim is promoted. Jim talks to David; meeting went great. Michael talks to David. Jim walks David to his car. Jim senses a shift in Wallace’s belief in Jim. Jim thinks Michael sabotaged Jim’s meeting. But Michael has no ability to mask his emotions or thoughts or motives. So he walks up to Jim with a bowl of candy, acting very guilty and suspicious. Then the following exchange happens 😂😂😂… Michael, rattling the candy bowl at Jim: “Little pick me up? These are the best. Sugar rush.” Jim: “When you were in the office earlier talking to Wallace, did I come up at all?” M: “Well, we did talk about how handsome you are.” J: “Why don’t we go in your office to talk?” M: “Okay. What did we … God!… we said… I know there were certain things we said.” Michael Scott when he says completely vague word-salad non-answers is some of the best comedy on the show. What in the world kind of sentence is “I know there were certain things we said.” ? 😂😂😂

I like the episode where Jim got put down and know his place that Michael is far more superior even though they both were co-managers. Like how Jim offended everyone in his first hard decision he had to make. Whereas Michael... somehow managed to keep the peace with every difficult decision. And how even though Jim was really stressed and affected by it, Michael didn't gloat about it and actually tried to cheer Jim up instead. Like it tells us how Michael don't even view Jim as a threat to his co-manager role. Like Michael sees Jim as his friend and from the start, he has all along been trying to help Jim in not making a bad decision regarding the excess bonus. And yet, Jim, thinking he is a star, ignores Michael and tries to go on his way but failed miserably. And best part was Michael was actually trying to cheer him up after that despite Jim's ignorance and provide "mentorship to Jim" co-manager role. Its like this that tells me Michael is really a true leader and really the good friend you ever could have.
