    Having lived near Miami and worked security in one of Miami’s most famous clubs, the contrast from the poor neighborhoods and the skyline of multi million dollar condos near distance is sad and striking. I’ve seen a lot of crazy, crazy shit in the DT/Overtown streets.

    I now reside on the gulf coast of mississippi and every state in the south that I've been to is like that as well one street is ratchet af and the street over is well to do all white communities. The south is very odd being from Baltimore my whole life where it's quite obvious the government purposely puts the poor and drug addicted or criminals in one area in major cities in the U.S.

    I used to be a homeless drug addict. I bought my drugs in overtown. I was there on and off between 2015-January 10,2020 I got sober. I used to go late night, I used to go 24/7. Nothing would stop me, unless I went to jail. The things I’ve seen during that time I’ll never forget. I put myself in some horrible situations. When you’re running those streets 24/7 your bound to witness some horrible shit. An I did, it became normal. I know damn near everyone in OT, but I’m so happy I escaped that life.

    I like how all of the skyscrapers are so visible due to how low most of the residential houses and buildings are (due to all the hurricanes they get). It makes the downtown area pop out way more than NY/NJ area.

    @@eyeluvverbutterdogsheds4941 glad to hear that bro. Sometimes you need to hear someone else’s perspective to see certain things like that. In Jersey City, NJ, we have so many 3 story plus houses and buildings you can’t even see one block past from where you are standing lol. Very old architecture which is great to see but we have no views unless you are on the roof or actually in the downtown area lol. For example, downtown Jersey City is on the other side of the holland tunnel from Manhattan and NYC’s skyline looks way better from our side than being in NYC because you can see everything.

  • @ceelman1

    @ceelman1

    It's not because of the hurricanes it's just a super new city compared to the northeast, people sprawled out more instead of being forced to build up where you're from. I grew up down here and there are plenty of 3+ story buildings all over the suburbs and cities. Either way, you're right about it being nice to see the skyline so clearly. You can see sites like this in Phoenix, Vegas, and lots of other relatively flat, more recently developed cities

Every city has flaws, but to experience what I did in Over town made me a changed person. I grew as a person. I gained some forever relationships. Pure, honest and true. There were some that taught me a valuable lesson, about judging someone before you get to know them. Over town is so rich in history and the residents are truly loyal to their.community.
