my guess is, that the 80's were very much "about" the future...especially looking back and romanticizing the best parts(the synthpop, the vital and lively punk rock/new wave scenes, the wild hair, the vibrant/colorful clothing, the popularity of science fiction as a movie genre, and the blow). The future imagined in the 80's was just so damn cool...,idk if the real future could ever compete(how could any reality ever compete with fantasy?)...we do have some great computer/phone technology now though😀! we can listen to awesome music like this anytime we want to!!!

When I was a child in 1989 and saw all these 80s action and martial arts movies I had this melancholic feeling when a movie ended, as if I wished the movie to go forever. I got this exact feeling when the music faded at the end of the album. There is a magic in this 80s synth music.

The 80`s have come back full circle. In another 30 years time they'll be back again. Hope I'm alive at that time to feel that nostalgia all over again! :D
I was born in the early 80s, but I feel like I've actively experienced this decade and soaked it up in me. I now know every scrap and nook and cranny of this decade, because I can't get rid of it, especially the music. These synth sounds create a mood that is irretrievable. Nevertheless, I am grateful that I can bring this time back into my life at any time with the help of the Internet & especially KZread. With a technology that one could only dream of in the 80s. And I tell you guys: be grateful to YOU that technology now makes this possible. The people in the 80s couldn't.

@@desertdweller9548 He didn't say the greatest, he said one of, and when it comes to straight-up synthwave - not darksynth or chillwave - I very much think it is great, standing well above it's very crowded field. Of the several dozen releases I listened to during the synthwave explosion of the 2010s, I consider it one of the Big 3, the only ones I continually go back to, along with Lazerhawk's Redline and Night Runner's Starfighter (Timecop1983's Night Drive just misses the cut, as I think it's too focused on vocals to really fit, and those vocals are just as likely to turn me off as add anything positive). While I'd admit this is the least technically proficient of the three, it's also my favorite and the one I've listened to the most, as I find it the most consistently fun; the most upbeat and joyful, never failing to make me smile and groove the whole way through. If it's one of the top three albums in a given genre, I think it's totally fair to call it one of the best albums ever made.
@desertdweller9548
9 ай бұрын
@@jackstrawful I didn't say he called it the greatest. I said it's not great and not nearly the greatest. If the first thing you do is put words in someone's mouth, you need a better tactic. That aside, you're entitled to your opinion but by the same token so am I. Yours isn't worth more or less than anyone else's. I disagree that it's one of the best, to me such an unqualified remark is pure sycophant behavior and fanboyism. You make salient points and fair enough to say it's high on your list, but for someone to say "one of the best albums ever made" is a stretch and you freaking know it. Stop getting triggered that someone called out a blatant fanboi.
There are very few albums I can listen to without feeling the need to skip a song. This album is one of them. Outstanding!
When you are driving and listening to the radio, but don't want to hear mindless lyrics and commercials that only tell you to buy stuff you don't need then this is a great alternative!

In my opinion, Miami Nights is the best project in Synthwave, which, in fact, represents NuDisco. Only thing bad about this album is that it's so short.
@derekbarnett4344
10 жыл бұрын
I actually think that's part of the point. Prior to the Compact Disc format dominating the industry in the 90s, most album lengths were around 40 to 45 minutes to accommodate the Vinyl format, which generally did not exceed 45 minutes. This, in turn, saved money when Cassette Tapes were introduced; while Cassettes could be extended to 90+ minutes, such extension would cost more to produce (i.e. shorter album = less tape used = less money spent on materials). It wasn't until the Compact Disc format achieved market dominance that you started seeing the average album time lengthen (along with Cassettes in an attempt to maintain relevance). Thus, in trying to emulate the 80s, it would make sense to have a shorter album as compared to today's standards.

10 жыл бұрын
ho99style This band seems to be trying to pass itself off as an authentic 1980’s band. Putting the “1984” in the title, to me, implies that the band was afraid that the listener would associate this music with another, more recent, Miami nightlife. If this band were truly form the 1980’s the name Miami Nights would be all that was needed to give the listener cultural context. Also, and perhaps incorrectly, I think of this style of music as being future oriented. Given the style of this music, 1984 would be its present. Why would a futuristic band name itself after a year rapidly becoming part of the past? From that perspective Miami Nights 2025 might have been the name for this band had it been formed in the mid 1980’s. Essentially, both of my arguments here are predicated on the idea that this band is attempting to trick the listener into believing that its music was made in the 1980’s by being as authentic as possible. Upon first viewing/listen, the “1984” was a red flag to me saying that this music was made at a much later date than 1984. If the "1984" is referencing George Orwell’s novel “1984” then I may take back my criticisms.

Listen this makes me feel so comfortable and sleepy ...its a time travel back to my baby days in 80s.
"Synthwave" called songs are more soulic than todays ones.That's why we love 80-90s' songs!!! Like if you too)!
Que interesante es la música de los 80, aunque solo tenga 20 años u.u

Sounds like a rich Floridian tired of all the bullshit
Been listening to synthwave for years now and somehow just discover this, blows my mind. Only found it from a Gunship remix that I loved and now I'm hooked on this too
Thank you for this upload
j'aime beaucoup cet album ... merci
Fantastic tune! I was born in late 80s, but I don`t remember that period. Only know about them from movies, music and stories. But I love it! Can`t find better atmospheric sound than sound of analogue and early digital Roland, Yamaha etc. Hail to everyone who shares the same :)
Unbelievable, what for almost forgotten supersongs from the deep come back to the surface. Fantastic to hear these....
this is uzi with a silencer on your lap pastel ocean blue suit on ocean Avenue in a testarossa coked out music
I would love to challenge someone to a fight and then montage to this song. First scene, running in sweat pants and a head band. Second scene, sweating profusely while doing kung fu on the beach. Third scene, shoving my fist to the skyyyyyyyyyyyy.

Captnmolywop Don't forget about your idiot side-kick friend who helps you along the way. Then, after his inevitable death at the hands of the Bad Guy, you avenge him, have 80's montage sex with some Jazzercise instructor, and rollerblade into the beach-side sunset. The end.

Captnmolywop next scene: jogging past a homeless guy, stopping to give him a dollar, he smiles, I give a thumbs up and keep running into the West Coast sunset. (Yes, I'm thinking more LA than Miami).

This is what I’m waiting for thank you for this lovely music
This genre is just so weird, and yet so addicting. Just discovered it and oddly drawn to it.
