MI2SE Soundtrack #5 - Woodtick
Ойындар
Every variation on the song is here, full length, with transitions. None of that "ten seconds of the main theme, followed by five seconds of the bar theme followed by a fadeout" crap that other soundtrack makers do.

This theme is among the most beautiful melodies I have ever known.
I was making a wooden chest for my bedroom so I could store all my junk in it. Then I remembered this and played it in loop while I was working, sawing and sanding the wood, varnishing the planks... Hell, I had a lot of fun, I was grinning during the entire process. This game's ost is GREAT. Pure gold.

+RogetMusic Do you know which organ was used here, if it was a real organ and not VST? And if it was VST, do you know which organ was sampled/emulated here, and what's the name of the VST used here? I like it a lot, it reminds me of the organ Michael Land used prominently throughout the soundtrack to The Curse of Monkey Island. I would've liked if it was in the main theme of the first game's special edition, for the part that was originally played by an organ, instead of the marimbas that replaced pretty much everything except for the woodwinds and xylophone used for the main melody and some of its accompaniment respectively (the former was originally pan flutes, though I did really like the flutes/recorders/ocarinas/whatevertheywere that were used instead in the SE) and of course the bass (though it was weird to hear an ordinary bass guitar instead of the double bass pizz used in the original version. It worked, nevertheless).
It never gets old, its like yesterday.

Holy crap, I just noticed, so they gave the monkey a human, child-like face. How can professional "artists" have such a bad sensibility about art? Maybe that's a pointless question, or else there wouldn't be so much bad art. (Not a fan of of the new MI style anyway. But then artists are only human and stuck with what they've got themselves, and maybe their talent lets them have a different outlook anyway, that is a more relaxed one.)

+stopaskignmeforrealname DoTT Remastered has made all the faults in the Special Editions seem really conspicuous. Problem is, DoTT Remastered clearly has a lot of love and effort put into its production, but the budget is clearly much lower, the redrawn art doesn't add any new details or do anything inventive with the style, and the music is entirely synthesized, exactly like the original. It's frustratating that we only seem to have two options; 1) A high-budget, fully orchestrated re-imagining of the game...done by a massive corporation who don't really care about anything beyond making a few bucks off nostalgic fans. 2) A low-budget, synthesized clone of the original game with the artwork essentially just traced over in higher resolution, handled by an indie developer with a lot of love for the game and its fans...but evidently, not even enough cash to cough up for the original iconic sound effects. It'd be nice if we could just have some middle ground, that adds a bit more detail to the game without completely distorting the atmosphere of the original.

He seems to be pretty excited about it. Hopefully if the project manages to get enough funding for this he'll join as a music arranger. Also trying to get in touch with Jesse Harlin (Monkey Island 1 and 2 SE, SWTOR), who I'm interested in as a music supervisor, which is what he did on the Monkey Island remasters, and Wilbert Roget II (same as Jesse Harlin except for The Secret of Monkey Island SE), who arranged the theme music and the music for Woodtick in Monkey Island 2 SE, as arranger.
