Bro teaches maths to maths teacher 🤦🏻 He says Mi28 uses 2.6 times fuel than chinook. Mi28 for 1 proportion of fuel - 28 tons Chinook for (its 1 proportion of fuel) - 13 tons But as Mi8 uses 2.6 times the fuel so multiply chinooks fuel by 2.6 . More specificaly Mi8 full tank = 2.6 times the full Tank of Chinook. So 2.6 times the trip with weight. Or 2.6 times the weight for the same trip. Chinook can do 2.6 rounds to transfer a total of around 32 tons or can do 2.6 times the distance of Mi28 for 13 tons. Simple maths hai yaar kya bekaar baate kar rahe ho Edit - you wrote Mi28 can carry 2.5 times of chinook 28/13 = 2.1 not 2.5 hence your answer is wrong.

So for 1 Chinook, you get 3 MI 26 helicopters. And the MI 26 can carry more than double the load of the Chinook. If these facts are correct, then for 75 million, you can lift either 13 tons or 84 tons!! While you can make some sort of case for use of Chinooks in specific areas and missions, it makes no sense to replace MI 26 with the Chinook. The two are in entirely different categories. Heavy lift capacity for forward deployment is a major factor for any army. If this is the real reason behind the decision to replace, then God help us. This is nonsense. It needs a Judicial inquiry to unearth possible bribes/commissions etc.

Energy efficiency is the ratio between the useful power supplied by a system and the power consumed by this system. The higher this ratio, the more efficient the system. For helicopters, useful power is lifting power, that is, the force exerted by the rotors to lift the helicopter and its payload. Power consumed is the power supplied by the engines, which depends on the fuel used. The Chinook has a lifting power of 7,000 KW and a power consumption of 5,590 KW (assuming 80% motor efficiency). Its energy efficiency is therefore 7000 / 5590 = 1.25. The Mi-26 has a lifting power of 14,450 KW (deducting 15% of the total power for the tail rotor) and a power consumption of 21,250 KW (assuming 80% engine efficiency). Its energy efficiency is therefore 14,450 / 21,250 = 0.68. We see that the Chinook is almost twice as energy efficient as the Mi-26. Fuel consumed per tonne transported is the ratio between the quantity of fuel used by a helicopter to carry out a mission and the total mass transported by that helicopter (including its own mass). The lower this ratio, the less fuel the helicopter consumes in relation to its payload. For simplicity, we assume that the helicopters use the same type of fuel (kerosene) and that they carry out the same mission (a 100 km round trip at an altitude of 3,000 m). The Chinook has an empty mass of 10,185 kg and can carry up to 11,340 kg of payload (taking into account fuel weight). Its total transported mass is therefore 21,525 kg. It consumes approximately 1.2 kg of fuel per kilometer traveled. Its total consumption for the mission is therefore 1.2 x 200 = 240 kg. Its fuel/tons transported ratio is therefore 240/21.525 = 0.011. The Mi-26 has an empty mass of 28,200 kg and can carry up to 20,000 kg of payload (taking into account the weight of fuel). Its total transported mass is therefore 48,200 kg. It consumes approximately 4 kg of fuel per kilometer traveled. Its total consumption for the mission is therefore 4 x 200 = 800 kg. Its fuel / tonnes transported ratio is therefore 800 / 48.200 = 0.017. We see that the Chinook consumes less fuel than the Mi-26 in relation to its payload. The Chinook is also lighter and obviously more agile and therefore better suited to mountainous terrain... In conclusion, the Chinook is significantly more energy efficient than the Mi-26 and more economical in terms of fuel consumption. The Mi-26 is just for raw power...otherwise the Chinook is better... Too scared to rely on Russia now due to China Russian having good ties and India being too weak and reliant on both China and Russia. So india go begging to USA and USA stroke India's ego to use them against China and also make big money selling them overpriced old equipment. While at the same time selling Pakistan f16 etc. There is no conflict with China, both sides cannot use even small arms, let alone heavy weapons. This got nothing to do with china alone. It's just a general transport helicopter and can use everywhere for everything.

I don't see any airlines using the Chinook. There must be some other reasons why India is buying the inferior and less capable Chinooks at 3 times the price.
