LYRICS:
You can sail off the edges of the earth
Greet the workers of the universe
Still nothing prepares you for loss of life
Mmm mmm mmm mmm mmm mmm
At the table
Undressing cosmic knots
What remains of disconnected dots
Who knows how the painting will look in the morning?
When the day is born and life is ending
Ah ah ah ah ah ah
But it’s neither created nor destroyed
There’s a way to quiet all the noise
‘Cause it’s only a different kind of gain
Even if your color fades away
When the world is born and life is ending
Then you learn to love your loss of life
When that moment comes and life is over
Anyone can love
Anyone can love

If you traversed the modern days art as a whole, you'd have been shocked how many of such mad geniuses are up there among this whole mass pulp. Ya know - "cream of the crop always rises to the top,{ OH YEAH }" but isn't sitting atop of PR sticks... And that makes me feel that they're underrated and unappreciated. Also none of them has Little Dark Age as a meme so how would I ever seen them otherwise than spending my time on searching for them ;3

They made it a point with Congratulations that they wanted to alienate a lot of the people who hooked on with Oracular. They've only ever doubled down on that ethos, especially with their self titled record. They're truly artists for the sake of it.

2:09 A reference to the magnificent Siberian Breaks, Part VI: The Way That It Was (8:22 - 9:12): “Long before it made a noise To keep on quietly reminding you What’s never created or destroyed” MGMT, heartfelt thanks for your music. Since I was 9 years old in 2008, your songs have been a part of my life. Even now, at 25, they still move me deeply, giving me chills and stirring my emotions. It is been a joy growing up with your music, and I'm excited to see where the journey takes us next! Love for all MGMT fans around the world ❤❤❤

This song is incredible. My dog died this week, and while not the most significant loss I've experienced in my life, it has certainly been an emotional week, and the feelings associated with "loss of life" are strong for me right now. MGMT has done a perfect job of capturing these feelings that are only felt when you lose an important life, the noise, mystery, sadness, but ultimately love. A seemingly simple love, but one that cannot be accessed until you've lost. Beautiful.

I feel this sincerely. My dog passed away, too, and he ultimatively was more connected to my healing journey than every other being in my life. Thus it was a fucking hard hit for me. Combined with the fact how present dogs are, that they are not creatures of past nor future really disconnects my dog from my grief. And that disconnects me from the whole ordeal from time to time. But the week I had with him after his diagnosis was truly magical. Although also hurtful. For you, I personally liked the sentiment that after death, the love you had turns into the equal amount of grief. That grief and love are of the same essence. I hope you like it as well.

This song is an experience, hits me so hard. My first listen of this album I took a walk on the beach on a gloomy evening and by the end was sat, staring out at the waves as this song changed me. At the climax (learn to love your loss of life), I had my mouth gaping open, tears in my eyes, feeling so changed inside by what I was hearing. I felt like crying because of its confrontation with death, but also moved because of the unique way it embraces it. Thankyou MGMT, you guys never miss and are truly special.

Just as this song was released, I had to rush my cat to the vet clinic because she looked very weak and ill. Turnes out she has an unknown formation in her belly, that hurts nearby organs. We’ve made an x-ray and spoken with several specialists including oncologist. They’ve said that chances of successful rehabilitation at this point are extremely low. My family and I will visit other specialists during the weekend, however, we have to make conclusion on what we are going to do on Monday. Maybe we could take a risk and try to remove the formation, maybe analysis results would be so bad that there’s nothing that could be done. I don’t know yet, but coming to terms with the fact, that I will more likely loose my dear friend is the hardest thing. I always loved how versatile mgmt’s music is and how many emotions it can make me feel and help to process. And now they’re music is once again here with me as I’m crying and remembering all the love snd support my cat gave my in these 15 years. I still hope that everything is going to be ok and she’ll have strength to go through all that. But I don’t want her to feel pain either. If letting her go is the best thing I can do, then so be it

Listening to this song while reading this made me cry. I’m sorry that you have to go through this. Nothing prepares you for loss of life. I’m sitting with my elderly cat on my lap and know he will one day pass on. I still won’t be prepared. So I just cherish every moment I can. Even though it is difficult, I know you will get through it.

Every human being on Earth who has already seen death or has lost somebody will understand every word in this album. I can tell Ben and Andrew, just like us, have been facing some hard times for the last years. I feel like this is a journey about accepting reality, accepting life, death, pain, sorrow. That's human nature and we must learn that for the good. So that is why it sounds like a warm hug... Thank you guys for translating so many important lessons into sounds and lyrics. For being real and vunerable. 🤍 hope you never stop making music.
