MF40 Combine Pt2 - Best sounding combine ever?? First Harvest In 3 Years
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
In this video I help a friend out with his recently purchased Massey Ferguson 40 combine harvester. After sitting for 3 years it needed a little TLC. With all the work completed it's time to put it back to work harvesting. It's got to be one of the most beautiful sounding combines ever!

Dave you are a godend to all the broken and neglected machines you wprk on ,may the tractor and machine gods be kind to you and yours! Understanding and talent are a vertue which you seem to posess in spades and cre of the unfortunate equiptment you incounter. Whether you are formally educated on machinery or self taught thru the school of hard knocks and experience ,matters not ,but your drive and knowledge is a testiment to your graces and devotion to saving all these old machines !

Thanks Robert, that is much appreciated. I'm an electrical engineer by profession, and so a self taught mechanic. I grew up on a farm, so no better way to learn about fixing things! Thanks again for supporting the channel, without people like you there would be no point to producing these videos 🙂👍
Dave the farmer, sounds about right :D

Thanks 🙂👍. Always makes it worthwhile when people enjoy it.
I have been watching the rest of the film while I had my tea . The old combine looks like it has had a life 😮 I reckon it could go on a little faster but I guess it needed to shine up 😅

😅😅 unfortunately there was a lot of lodged crop due to heavy rain so we had to take it gently. Its had a lot of work over winter so it should be in good shape this harvest. Thanks again for watching the videos and commenting Richard, hope you enjoyed your tea!!
Enjoyed that I bought a Massey 27 2 years ago gave awful trouble with dirt in the diesel first year took the tank off new lift pump great job replaced most of blade sections on the header couple of belts then it snapped the deawner belt which wrapped around the drive pulley which caught two other belts and a hydraulic hose and the engine oil drain pipe a right mess took 4 hours to get all that off the pulley fingers crossed for next year

That sounds like some pain! It's amazing the damage something like that can do! I dropped a M6 bolt when bypassing the EGR on the Range Rover. It landed behind a pulley, jammed it, melted it and the belt 😬. Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed, and good luck with next harvest.

Peter, the owner thinks it's a broken feather finger in the header that's fallen it is causing it. Hasn't been investigated fully yet.

Nothing worse than stripped bolts. Trying to keep old Machine's working is not easy Dave I don't what your weather has been like but it looked hot like it has been up here. A good machine but hard work. Good to see the machine back up and running. Yeah I will watch the harvest of the oats. 👍

3 alternator's is a bit excessive 😮 changing a grain elevator chain usually means taking the box off !

To be honest I find it strange it's not 24V with the amount of electrics in it. Never seen anything else with more than one alternator fitted before.

It certainly did Rob, ran very cool infact. It seems to be under very little stress in that machine. Totally over spec'd I'd say. Thanks for watching 👍

Willie, we were taking it very slowly because of the amount of lodging in the crop. Plus it was my first time driving a combine 😂.
