That would be crazy. I feel Kanye is all about the more artistic side of things, how the music feels, what he can do to warp it to be unique and something that unlocks something in people, that's why I love him. MF DOOM is also super artistically gifted, but he's best in a more technical sense, he knows how to put words together to make double, triple entandras, rhyme them insanely, make charectors. But at the same time when I listen to both of them I wonder what's going on in their brain when they make it, it's like they're giving you a glimpse into a world only they experience, and are trying to give it to you. Kanye tries to just put what he sees in the music, raw, and DOOM tries to explain it, its like they are telling a joke only they get, but its still funny.

Also Kanye has a dangerously large inferiority complex and an ego that goes along with that, thinks of himself as Jesus and a viable presidential Candidate. He made great tracks but is not really genious enough to justify his moronic megalomaniacal behaviour. He is no Mozart, no Beethoven, no Nat King Cole, Jimmy Hendrix ect. Also his rapping was if ever mediocre at best, his strong suit is producing, but that would maybe give another artist his much needed limelight.

The sad truth. No matter how you slice it, DOOM had a mask/supervillain gimmick. His talent level combined to make him a force of nature. Wu-Tang kinda opened the door in that arena. Think of how less impactful they might have been without the Golden W logo.
@_The_Traveler_
3 жыл бұрын
@@ageofdulltron2052 well, MF Doom was an exception to what I'm talking about, in my opinion. I hear what you're saying, but I don't know if my original comment was clear enough. Doom wore that mask as a symbol of the pain and anguish required to make the hard decisions that your people (those you speak for and protect) need you to make in order for them to prosper and find security. Sometimes being a "villain" means being hated for doing the right thing when it isn't popular, or making a choice that will offend many so that the free people can stay free. Sometimes mistakes are made, and sometimes feelings get hurt, but it's all for the good of the mission. Lots of villains with extremely complex motivations have worn masks in the past, that's why Doom chose to wear one. He had to make a lot of moves in the hip hop scene that a lot of people might consider "cruel" or "aggressive", but he did so because he felt he had to in order to protect what was sacred to him and the people he cared about (us fans). He wasn't worried about burning bridges within the industry, as long as he could guarantee safe passage across the most important one, the one between him and us. The bridge between the artist and the people. He also didn't think much of himself, and didn't believe it was important for his image/face to gain attention at all, and he knew people would try to turn him into an icon anyway, so he just put the mask on and gave them a character to play into. That way, they could popularize "MF Doom" all they wanted, without it turning into any kind of cult worship of the actual man behind the mask. None of us are that important, that we deserved to be worshiped by anyone else. I was more or less referring to the idea that the dude in the audience, and quite a few listeners today, think that it would be great to work with someone based on their name. I guess in a way that technically holds some legitimacy, because a lot of big names in music are big because their music was very popular, but MF Doom creates a distinction that any TRUE artist can recognize almost immediately. He said that when he HEARS something, he finds out who it is. The ART comes FIRST, then the creator. Art should be performative only to the end that it needs such a performance to contextualize its voice. Beyond that, it becomes mere social posturing for the artist themselves. Art has a voice, if we would but let it have one and didn't make it about US all the time. That's really what Doom was trying to say, that someone's name shouldn't be the deciding factor when art is involved. Not everything that's popular is _actual quality._ Just because an artist's name is huge, doesn't mean every bit of music they make is good, which is a lazy pitfall a lot of people fall into. Doom covered his face so you'd forget his image, and pay more attention to the SOUNDS he was trying to create. A big name doesn't really mean anything. That's what Doom stood for, and why he considered himself a "villain". He was anti-industry.
I wish so badly that this album happened. It would complete MF Dooms producer run, especially if it was mixed with Kanye's Dre album or a Pharell collab
This is the first piece of MF DOOM content I've ever consumed. I think now is the time I go down that rabbit hole. I am aware that he died somewhat recently, but I hope I can still enjoy his art as if he were alive.
Rest in peace
I don’t think People realize that Kanye be killin the game Since the 90s and his meteoric rise in the 00s shows if y’all done that research he been musically in-tuned and he is responsible for a lot of classics. His adaptive abilities are bar none foreals… producer/rapper/ and a true ARTIST!.
