Again i love him and madlib but songs like kon karne, kon queso and the hilariously fun and effortles hook hof rap snitch snitches really enraptured me. I was born in 1987. I mainly grew up with the late 90s and early 2000s hip hop. Mf doom was apart of my adolescence along with the whole stones throw family. DOOM dying , is like a part of my childhood dying. His death literally tore a hole in my heart. His music resonates with me in a very special way , much like j dilla , madlib , nujabes. I'm scared. My era is getting older, and time eats away at our body and souls. Tommrow is not promised. I hope my generation of hip hop strives and drops as many joints as possible. RIP DOOM. I love that dude is wearing a Sonic Youth shirt. Sonic Youth were hip hop fans and did a track with Cypress Hill titled "I love you, Mary Jane". Chuck D also did vocals on Sonic Youth's hit song "Kool Thing". My favourite DOOM track is probably Figaro, with Question Mark (?) coming in close second. Born like This is underrated. Best tracks on Mmm.. Food, in my opinion, are One Beer and Rap Snitches Knishes.
I may be coming out of left field here but I always thought that MF DOOM's production style (at least his earlier projects) was similar to Prince Paul. I always thought that DOOM's production sounded like it could've been some DeLaSoul project. Prince Paul would take some obscure and out of the ordinary sounds for DeLa. And lets not forget the skits started with DeLa. I didn't realize how many people rapped or crafted a song like DOOM did. MosDef was the first person I heard talk about intricate DOOM's word play was.
