Not too far off a set of tones, from the Hafler/Bogner TripleGiant [better clean on the Nirvana by far], but with added functions, boost and other buttons that you really didn't explain so I googled for the people: each channel has option to be programmed to have added Boost and Brite, and ch's 2 + 3 have a 2nd Master. The Boost definitely adds what you want to ch 2, Mike overlooked describing it deeper, surely because he was just stunned by the in your face feel of this thing. Getting this to the USA with footswitch, is close to 3 grand. With duties/import/shipping, likely over 3. Hopefully stores like Guitar Center/Sam Ash will stock them so you can at least test it out.

The remarkable aspect to this preamp is the price 😳

I bet it Costs a pretty penny. I got my hours increased at the Goodwill recently, so I’m livin’ pretty high on the hog these days. Fun fact: yesterday someone donated a Fender Bronco silver face at the the Goodwill Inwork at. We put it on the online auction. I can’t keep it or I would be fired.
Of course everybody wants to know.. How doe sit compare with the CAE 3+? 😀
You have that mezzabarba still? Sounds like heaven plz, do a to tonex capture pretty plz!!!

You should test one of those Soldano designed Yamahas. T50 or T100
wow Mike
Triaxxis killer? Damn that sounds really good.

Nice!! Please check the skrydstrup cgp4 ( I could not find any sound sample out there)
Maselec style knobies add a thousand dollars to the retail value.
So the name of the preamp is actually Nirvana and this isn't some mysterious Kurt Cobain secret sauce preamp? :D It has some of that soldanoesque tone where you have tons of saturation but it remains clean in a weird way. The looks is legit, like a real old school deal but modernized.
six 12ax7's in this beast. how does it compare with the X88R ?
Killer vid as usual. Throwin' back to Tone-Talk rack gear episode....I missed it live, but had a question for you (Marc replied the other day)...1 preamp, 1 rack effect, and a power amp. What would your choices be?

If I had no context, and it was for fun, I’d pick a Soldano x88, an Eventide H3000, and a VHT 2150. It would change if I was planning on using it for current modern sessions, or if it was for more metal, or more pop sounds.

@@BigHairyGuitars Nice! Forgot to also ask- any experience/opinion on the Symetrix 606 dual delay?
Your mannerisms remind me of the one and only Fran Blanche.
Beautiful sounds. How do like the Bogner 1x12 behind your desk? Is it full sounding our kind of boxy like many 1x12s?
I totally love all your videos! Sometimes you have a high pitch hum coming through the videos?
*Way 2 g with that Classik CULT riff*
Yep, it is dummy proof! Lots of sounds and none of them sucked!!! Well ... apart from *that* solo of course :)
I would like you test a Tech21 Sanamp PSA 1 preamp with Torpedo CAB amp and speaker simulator. What do you think. I am big fan of your channel.
Mate, are you aware of or tried a Digitech TSR24S? That has a very interesting space station type pitch shifting patch as well as decent reverb/ delays....would love your opinion!
🤓nah, not 4me....thx 4 sharing
How would you run effects for this setup that would normally go into an effects loop of the amp head? Would they go from the output of the preamp to the input of the Power amp?
@BigHairyGuitars

Exactly, straight from one to the next. Or ideally, you'd use some kind of rack mixer, like the Red Seven Multi Stereo Line Mixer
Oustanding!!! By the way, he is spelled "Metsabarba", not "Mezabarba".
Toren is already jealous. For me...you could've stopped at channel 1...sold. I don't want that stank face that channel 2 brings about. I'm ugly enough!
Is that a Goldtop 335? Aww man, anything Goldtop gets my GAS going.
Can I ask if you have put some noise or hum suppressor in between? Because I hear the noise cut off soon after you play. If you have use a noise suppressor,, may I know which model are you using? Thanx alot!
2 outputs? anything on the back to mention Mike? I too love preamps dude....just a thing. Thx bro
Back in the early 90-ties Ian Chrichton from Saga used a preamp that was red, I believe, and had a kind of Chevy 50'ties design to it. I sounded as I recall great.....but I do not remeber the manufactuer and it is driving me nuts from time to time. Do you know the preamp?

Elma Collet Knobs always make gear look posh
Shit, I felt sold just from the first few minutes of CH 1. That's my kind of clean and low dirty right there. Gets a great jangle and snap. Personality. I see on CH 2 it got you into a Sonic Temple...lol I'm sure this doesn't cost as much as 2003 Corolla right? Lol Is it pretty noisy without the gate?
Mezzabarba, please reach out to me too to send another Nirvana preamp. please
