I’m 40 & growing up we’d visit my maternal grandparents in the mountains of Guerrero Mexico. Tiny village. Water was still drawn from a well. & my grandparents main light was a kerosene lamp in main room, other homemade handheld lamps with cloth wicks were used at night. They had an outhouse. Very few had a vehicle. My grandpa did because he had my uncles who already worked in the USA who sent money for one. They also worked the milpa & he ran the local molino that ground the maize into masa for the daily tortillas. I helped my grandma when I got older with many chores. It’s a simple life & everyone has a job to do. Most people growing up back home found this life hard to believe. I know how to use a molcajete & metate. She also taught me to crochet, embroider & sew. Those are some of the best memories of my life. Visiting every summer break & winter break ✌🏼❣️🙏🏼
