mewithoutYou has been an iconic presence in heavy indie rock for over a decade. They’ve released five albums to date, each one as surprising and dynamic as the next. Known for his intellectual lyrical style, vocalist Aaron Weiss pens visceral metaphors in his whimsical tales. mewithoutYou’s most recent project, “Pale Horses,” channels the heavy, grittier sound of their early releases. Songs like “Red Cow” and “Mexican War Streets” rumble along with an explosive tension reminiscent of 2004’s “Catch for Us the Foxes”.
Recorded on June 11, 2015 in Chicago, IL.

I met him backstage in 2006? They played with the chariot, underoath, and as cities burn...he was holding court outside of the buses and I asked him about the song gentleman and he was just so kind in explaining why they didn't play it. It's always stuck with me what a great speaker he is and how gentle he is. Has to be rad to have him as a professor. I wanna come sit in on a class.

This has been my favorite band for nearly 15 years. Aaron Weiss is unquestionably my favorite lyricists, and one of my favorite poets. As an academic myself, I'm so glad you're enjoying his professorship.
One of the most influential drummers in post hardcore and experimental rock n roll. Almost 20 years of brilliance. [A→B] Life, specifically had a huge impact on my drumming.

For those that might not know the band originally planned to only do this gig for 20 years. The coof messed up their schedule so they went a little over that in order to do a proper farewell. I guess what makes that crazy is if you knew this well before their 20th year you could feel the end coming year after year. I respected how they had a plan from the get go and for me makes me miss even more they will never do this again.
Just saw them for the first time ever last night in Denver as part of their farewell tour. So good and so sad I won't be able to see them a 2nd time. Aaron is incredible and looks like he should be a children's book writer!

How had I never heard of this band? A few months ago a buddy out west assigned me a place I have to visit, a book I have to read, and a band I need to listen to. So far only the third has been transcendentally life-changing.

@@phis.750 I saw them live at least twice, always a great show. The first time I saw them was in a closed art gallery in their beginning days, Aaron walked through the crowd as he sang, first guy I ever saw do that.
During the bridge in red cow you see Aaron sipping that h2o so casually with his legs gently crossed then just discards it and fucking RIFFS on his last stanza is pure hardcore metamorphosis. So hype

Blake Killganon you’re right. Didn’t catch that. I assumed they were because there was an interview with him in a drumming magazine a few years back where he mentioned he had switched to double butted sticks and every time I’ve seen them live he’s been using them. I even talked to him about it after a show once and experimented with them for a while after that. My guess is he’s just used to using them and didn’t have any available for this show for some reason
