Say "hello" to your new favorite jewelry. Meet Jewelry Designer and Creator of Mettle by Abby, Abby Fincannon. Abby is blurring the lines of high & low art, traditional and contemporary jewelry- able to connect disparate, earthly components with metal elements to produce beautifully inspired jewelry creations.
Abigail Fincannon brings the same unique, open-minded approach to her work as a jeweler and designer as she lives every day. It was Fincannon’s Boca Raton, Florida upbringing where she inherited her creative spark from her mum, and her desire to tinker with objects from her engineer dad, but her intuitive way with this year’s most fashion forward jewelry, is entirely her own. Abby received her BFA in Jewelry and Metalsmithing in 2010 from Winthrop University in South Carolina. She interned at David Douglas Diamonds & Jewelry in Marietta, Georgia in 2009, and has been there ever since, designing and creating unique, one-of-kind-pieces of jewelry.
Abby’s line of jewelry adeptly walks the line to capture the perfect balance between traditional and the unexpected. She enjoys the process of creation and rarely sketches out her work prior to creating a piece. She is always seeking, evaluating and questioning…her eyes are always wide open to discovery. Abby loves to experiment with various metals and explore all of the different options and directions that she can take a piece. Each piece is hand-forged and has a story to tell that embodies a bit of her wondrous spirit, from inception to finish. Her ultimate goal is always to integrate the concept of their stories into daily lives and to tell them in an original and creative way.
Abby likes to imagine new levels of existence, explore the unknown realms of consciousness, ignite hidden energies in others; “befriends the underground gypsies and vagabonds, inspires chaos and serenity at once. She likes the extremes... She’s an energetic and chaotic burst of excitement, yet the most soothing, tranquil, warm-hearted bundle of gentle.” This is exemplified in her creations.
