They’re all the same spec just for some reason some cars have a black grille and others don’t. Although, I have to say for police cars they’re pretty well specced anyway

@@joshstreet3919 nearly every BMW police vehicle is in basic SE trim or even worse, police spec with even less offerings hence the X5’s have halogen headlights and cloth seats. To see a police vehicle with an over £2000 black shadow line pack is high spec surely. Unless it’s a police spec somehow for this X5 as there are some odd aspects compared to what a civilian can spec.

@@Horizon301. Specs on authorities line vehicles vary massively from force to force, BMW are more than happy to make adjustments for individual requirements. Halogen bulbs were a deliberate choice by the Met (and a few other forces) to save in the long run on parts costs - replacing a xenon unit is very expensive and Met ARVs are involved in considerably more tactical contact than counties ARVs. London streets are also well lit and superior lighting is unlikely to enhance safety. The shadow line pack is fairly common on new unmarked BMWs in the Met - traffic ones feature it. Looks pretty good and is a good attempt at giving the cars a bit more stealth in their presence.

@@ce9934 interesting. It’s a shame that they don’t get M-Sport trim vehicles. Also is there anything special on the 5 series as the majority look the same as the civilian spec?

@@Horizon301. the new generation cars are not as basic as you think. Trust me. The new X5’s are very close to standard spec. The only differences are they have sensatec rather than real leather, 18” wheels instead of 19”, they don’t have a reversing camera and they all have a tow bar which is an option on a civilian X5. They are based on the xLine trim level now. Some have the black grille and window surrounds others don’t, everything else is the same.

Can someone explain me in detail what ARVs are? What is it's purpose?

ARV - Armed Response Vehicle. Officers carry guns for when a gun has been used or a weapon has been used

I believe it’s the yellow circle 🟡 and astrix type ⭐️ plus most BMW X5 are gun police in uk
