It's the same with Metroman; he became a hero because that's what society wanted him to be, not on his own. In short, the rivalry between Megamind and Metroman is all a show to appease society.

This is the movie that made me realize that no matter how extraordinary a person is, they are still human. They can get bored, they can feel sad, lonely, etc. And it goes the same with superhero, "with great power comes great responsibility" but you never choose to be a part of that responsibility, Spider-Man choose to be a hero is because he had the choice and he made a decision, MetroMan here is just a man who had dreams but could not follow it because of his responsibility.

I always found it funny that Metro Man becomes Music Man. Like he went from being a great hero to being a generic musician. After watching this I have realized the importance of Music Man. He’s who Metro Man wants to be. Who he chooses to be. He knows music and instruments. Something he never shows as Metro Man. Music Man feels like a better character after watching this.

Me exploring the whole school after asking the teacher to use the restroom:

Love the dynamic duo, cuz they’re polar opposites. Merman is more matured thinking while Megamind is always childish. & Metro man felt stuck after that realization of the repeating cycle, while Megamind was in love with the thought hence why he created another metro man & even gave a speech about how Titan was supposed to take him to jail so he can escape again. This was a very interesting & contradicting movie with well written contradicting characters, solid 10.

One was nurtured and given the possibility to seek something greater. The other handed a set of circumstances and told that's all he'd ever achieve. This is why Metroman is initially deep in his emotions and desires, while Mega Mind was very one dimensional and shallow with his emotional depth.

I really see metroman as a symbol of humanity, what I mean is we as people go to work everyday and get stuck in the same routine of work, sleep repeat. Very few get the choice to change. I dunno I could be rambling but that's how I see it

I used to be pissed that despicable me was the bigger franchise than Megamind, with its multiple movies, minons and spin offs...but then i realised, Megamind is perfect as is and the story doesnt have to expand. (Especially after the shit show coming soon)
